Using Facebook possibly in a different way
I'm assuming all of you here have Facebook, even those of you who might tend to be isolated socially or not have many friends, or even those of you who generally hate the idea of Facebook(like me), but you use it anyways because you dont want to miss being updated on what's up with your friends, and the like.
My question is, does people who have autism or asperger, use Facebook in a different way than normal people?
To be honest, I kinda do. For example, I accept almost any friend requests from anyone who is sending them to me, which causes me to have a large amount of fake friends on Facebook. About 80% or more of my friends of facebook, are people I have not met in real life, not even one time.
However, the other 20% are real people, but mostly family members, or close relatives. I dont have many close friends, and the ones I do, our relationships tend to change a lot. I'm not ashamed of that, that's just part of having asperger, I think.
But things like, for example, posting on your timeline or sharing photos, experiences, news, etc. Do you share things differently enough that other people notice that and think you are kinda weird?
Sometimes it happened to me, and when it happened, I deleted what I have shared.
I'm glad Facebook allows you to easily block people you dont like, or delete something you regret sharing with others.
I'm interested to hear how you use Facebook, what you enjoy sharing with others, and whether you use it maybe even a little bit differently than others do, whether its because of your autism or just because you have different personal preferences.
Thank you

I only add people I know. I would never add somebody I don't know, in case they might be a spy or a hacker or something.
All of my privacy settings are activated, so that only friends can see what I post on my timeline and most of my profile information. I've allowed some of my profile information to be public, like my relationship status and the company I work for.
I think I ought to tone down what I share on Facebook though. Every time I catch a big moth I tend to post a picture of it, and some people probably think I'm obsessed with moths or something. But I just think they're so beautiful.
But I usually share memes that I can relate to or make me laugh, usually funny or rude ones. I also post videos of cats that I find on public Facebook pages that I follow. But that sort of thing is rather common, as others post that kind of thing too.
Sometimes I post what I'm doing with my boyfriend, like a movie we are seeing at the cinema, or a couple of pictures of us at the beach.
I don't think I use it any differently to anyone else.

I check people out before I accept a friend invitation, I look at the nature of their posts, I always filter violence and politics.
I never accept invitations from strangers, I don't see the point, there is enough "fake" in society today. I often get invitations either from men who have "turned on" to my pic or people who have 1000 plus friends which indicates to me that they are likely addicted to collecting friends they don't actually know.
I have made Facebook a seemingly safe place for myself though I do receive ads related to Whatsapp and Facebook conversations I have had and that is CREEPY .
I belong to an organization that promotes tolerance and connection between people so most of my posts are not about myself but rather concerning this purpose.
I support friends who are musicians, mentalists, magicians, therapists or business people and share their performances, workshops etc.
I also share friend's apartments that need renting and stuff like that.
I keep in touch with ex students and love seeing pics of their kids, vacations etc. My Facebook is not really about me but keeping in touch with others.

Well, Shalom to you! I believe we are coming from the same country, correct me if I'm wrong. Atleast that's what I can understand here. It's such a refreshing and good feeling to see someone on here who's coming from the same geographic location.
I wont start using Hebrew here in order to respect others who won't understand it.
Yes, I agree. A lot of people just randomly send friend requests, without actually wanting you as a real friend, but just so you can be another one appearing on their fake friends list.
However, I accept almost any invitation I get, on Facebook. Thats because, even if the person is a robot or a spammer or ad promoter, I can block them later. It's not a big problem.
I have about 500 friends on facebook, I think atleast 200-250 of them are people I have never met in real life, but most of them are people I have atleast talked to atleast once, and some I have met atleast once.
So, I admit a large part of my friends on Facebook are fake friends, but not all of them are like that.
I dont get a lot of likes if at all, to my posts or things I share. But, I believe some of my friends can see them and they like them, even if they dont press the Like button.
