Popeye's Chicken Sandwiches: So was *was* the big deal?

As most of us know by now, there has been a huge uproar about chicken sandwiches sold at Popeye's? Locations were selling out quickly, and there were super long lines at some locations. Popeye's had to temporarily remove them from the menu.

How were they different than chicken sandwiches sold nearly everywhere else?
