Ha ha, it wasn't that long ago when I would talk about my own favorite cartoon characters as if they were real and my neighbors. I still do sometimes. But years ago when I lived in a community home I poked fun the staff and a couple of other people who where watching a soap opera, their faces practically glued to the screen, about how they acted as if the characters on the show were real or something. I said, "You guys really kill me, you act like those are real people on the show." The staff then points and says to me in a loud and nasty voice, "YOU'RE THE SAME WITH CARTOONS, ONLY WORSE!"
You might as well have thrown acid in my face. It's okay for them to be obsessed with their fictional characters, but heaven forbid I show interest in mine. Or make jokes about other people's obsessions because they are way too sensitive.
