Some people want to be rich.
Some people want to be famous.
Some people just want to have a simple family life.
Some people want to serve god or whateve religion they have.

Me? I want knowledge. I want to know everything there is to know just to satisfy my curiosity. From history, science and technology, economy, entertainment, psychology. Everything. I know it's impossible to know everything so I just modify my goal into "know as much as i can". I get the knowledge from books and internet. Wikipedia has become my favorite website. Google is my friend. Right now I'm reading about past wars and battles, what caused them and how they shaped the world today. It's interesting to know that if the Spanish Armada managed to invade England in 1588, we might all be speaking spanish today! What if Winston Churchill never made his rousing speeches in WW2? Would England surrender to the Nazis? This is the kind of thing I want to know.

I also want to encourage other people to read. It's just sad that some people hate reading. I'm just going to start with my friends. I would find out what their interests are and I would suggest a book for them to read. They usually don't read it though or they just "wait for the movie to come out". Maybe I'll extend this further to the society. I want to encourage school children to read. I want them to love reading.

Some people think I'm crazy because I don't like luxurious goods like prada, gucci, versace etc. But owning those stuff doesn't make me happy. My parents and aunts keep giving me those stuff as presents thinking they make me happy but they don't. I don't want a life in luxury. Life in comfort? Sure! But life in luxury? Thanks for the offer, but I have to pass. If people ask "what's the point of knowing all that stuff?" i can reply "what's the point of owning all that stuff?"

What about material goods? I just want a comfortable house (not a big one because a big house is hard to clean), maybe 1 car that's easy to maintain. Non-expensive clothings. A nice computer with internet connection. Maybe a video game console.

Life is simple. Don't make it complicated.

Getting what you want in life isn't the important part - hanging on to it is. Because once you've lost it, it'll leave an emptiness you never felt before you had it.

There is no single overiding reason IMHO. Some people live for sport, others live for riches, others for beauty others for truth, others for a virtuous life etc, but just to be a member on the human race if nothing else or the canine race if you happen to be a dog. But personally I have been extremely curious as to what goes on around me. That is what puts meaning into my life.

That's basically me.

I am living for knowledge. It's like an addictive drug to me.

If wonder how you swing the lifestyle of being a lifetime student... :?:

I've always loved being a student first and foremost, yeah sex and good cappuccinos are important to life, but learning is the most important for me. And chess. If I wasn't learning and doing research and able to set out a good chess game I would be miserable and am miserable when prevented from doing those two activities.

I live for my art, if I couldn't express myself artistically I would probably commit suicide.

Children?

I have many already, they are my paintings, sketchings, writings and songs.

Art is my world.

I used to think exactly that way. After many years I realised that it wasn't really true. There are a great many things I actually don't have any interest in knowing about. Baseball, for instance. How toasters are manufactured. Most things related to pop culture. I could make this a very long list.

However, I do take your point. It's a beautiful one.

I don't think that's me... I have a compulsion to understand everything. I have a stronger drive for somethings than others and they get more of my attention... but anything is fair game.

Case in point, you mention baseball. I used to hate the sport, it made no sense to me. But I didn't understand why they kept all those statistics, and the meaning of them. So I slowly asked questions and watched a couple of games to really understand what the big deal is.

And I started to get a sense of what the game is really all about, and where the strategy is. Now it's much more interesting and I enjoy watching games... I'll admit the games are boring... so I usually couple this with some other activity... internet surfing/video game playing.

I have to mentally make it a point to ignore most Pop Culture information...

I live to learn, to read and to write.

I should probably use those desires to enter the publishing industry...

I am too directionless right now to have any idea why I live.

Go East about 34 miles, then make a left and head North for about 567 miles. Then go left and head West about 435 miles, turn left and head South for about 605 miles, and turn left and go East about 398 miles. Stop and get something to eat and to use the restroom. Now turn left and go North about 38 miles and finally go right and head East about 3 miles. There...now you have some direction in your life. :P

You only live once.

If you had many lives, I would of killed myself in this one. ;)
