We adopted a new cat! :D Her name's Minnie, and we got her from the RSPCA. She's absolutely gorgeous, and so playful and affectionate! She's really curious, and loves exploring everything. Here's a pic of her:

She's having a bit of trouble getting used to the dogs though, but hopefully she'll get used to them in time. :) (BTW, if anyone could offer any advice on the best way to introduce new cats to dogs, I'd be very grateful! ;^^ )

Your cat is beautiful :D .

You are the leader....the dogs follow....the cat will see you protect it everytime the dogs start up....the dogs will too. Talk to them all about being family and your expectations.

Just dont allow it. You are the boss(it helps if you believe that).

Dont feed them together....for awhile.

My animals all know the rules....and they know they are family.

tyger,
2cats, one husky

She's beautiful. :D

Whenever we get a new cat, we keep him or her in a separate room for half the day (so they can adjust to that); after that, we let them have free roam of the house and it's other occupants (one dog, five cats at the moment). We keep a close watch, but they seem to work it out amongst themselves.

Congrats on your new cat! She looks like a cat we had-Sally. Sally was our first cat and very special-I could tell many stories about her! I hope that Minnie becomes to your family what Sally was to us-a very special member of our family!

That's a beautiful cat, and good job on getting her from the RSPCA instead of from a pet shop or breeder. We get all our cats from the RSPCA, and the cat we had before our current one lived until she was 18 (and she was still in good health, but she got attacked by a dog and had to be put down), and our current cat, Tyson (she's a female, but we named her Tyson because she used to bite a lot, just like Mike Tyson), is approaching her 9th year.

EDIT: Here's some photos of Tyson, btw.

for one when you first get a new cat very importent you keep in in the house for atleast 2 weeks so it knows that your house is its new home. i never had problems with my dog in the past cause she was alwasy very nice even to kitty cats.but when i got a new cat she would always pick on my old cat who i had for ever so i would kick her every time she did now she knows to back off or she will get kicked

every animal i ever had i found or rescued from a animal shelter. and the way i see it the best pets you can ever get are the ones you find. not the ones you by.
