Don't know much about Oregon other than it was a part of the disputed Oregon territory, administrated together by Britain and The US until the dispute was settled 1845 by extending the American-Canadian border from Lake of the Woods to the Pacific Ocean along the 49th parallell. Also, I know, that women weren't allowed to own land there until round 1900 or so. And I know one of the Portland cities is situated there and is much bigger than Portland, Maine.

I heard that Portland, OR got its name from a vote--to name the city either Portland or Boston.

Incidentally, Portland, ME was originally called Falmouth, back when Maine was still part of Massachusetts.

IN that case, you'd love New Mexico. Bill Richardson (el Gato Gordo) is too busy flying around the country in his state taxpayer-funded jet campaigning for President to spend all that much time in state.

Our governor, Rick Perry, spends most of his time shooting his mouth off (and he's close personal friends with Russell Crowe).

Easy access to the ocean.

I was born in Portland and lived there and near there for 13 years of my life until we moved to Montana.

Portland is going to change it's name to MLA (Mini Los Angeles)
And Eugene is going to be renamed MSF (Mini San Francisco)

If I had the money. I'd buy the town of Otis, Oregon and rename it "No Name City" form one of my fave comedy/western movies "Paint Your Wagon".
