I'm trying the best burger places in my city as based by reddit users. What ingredients make the best burgers in your opinion?

A bit of breadcrumbs in the patty makes a huge difference, they help retain moisture.

Marinading the meat in Worcestershire sauce works pretty well IMO. If not that way, Montreal steak seasoning works well. Actually A-1 steak sauce tastes pretty good on burgers too.

I haven't made homemade hamburgers for a long time, but when I did I'd mix mix in some onion soup mix, an egg, and some bread or cracker crumbs into the ground beef. :chef:

A slice of beetroot never goes astray.

A halo burger has a patty, lettuce (preferably cos heart), tomato, cheese, a slice of beetroot, a potato cake or hash brown and German/French mustard (and an egg if I'm feeling extravagant)

If it contains onions they must be caramelised

I like my burger a bit on the crispy burnt side me
I'm all about the texture
I'm not interested in sauces either or lettuce for that matter
Oh yeah but I like chips on it

Bbq sauce for me adds a nice flavour to a burger.

I can live without it

No cheese either these days for me and no doubt I'll have to give the bread a miss at the rate I'm going lately

I like mixing a scrambled egg into the ground meat before cooking. I also like the burgers pan fried over grilled.

My personal preference with burgers is that they are short and the bread/bun is easily lacerated by my teeth. Those tall burgers with buns that have a hard plasticky bun are a pain to eat. They fall apart, the ingredients get all over my hands, and all my attention is spent on trying to keep it together.

Still experimenting. Last time I tried to make one, I used Vegemix, onions, and tomato puree, and probably a herb or two. Don't know if it counts as a burger, as I didn't bother with the breadcake, and preferred the "meat" on its own, but it was quite nice. Hoping to continue my research one day, if I ever get tired of my taters recipe and my celebrated salad. Not much sign of that so far. I like the control of making my own meals, so you're unlikely to see me in a burger bar.
