Are you an organ donor? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'm not, because I don't want people to see that and decide to hurry up pronouncing my death so that they can get on with the donation... I'm sure some people have died that way.

It says so on my state ID card. Though in the US your next of kin really makes the decision. I've told my sister to dispose of me in the most cost effective way for the family. Which includes making 100% of my body available for medical and/or science use.

I AM because
(a) I'm going to be cremated (I HATE HATE HATE BURIALS AND I WILL NOT BE ASSOCIATED WITH RELIGION) in a mortuary and then I will be set off in a firework somewhere in Wimbledon Common so that my ashes will go everywhere, hence it will not matter if I have no organs or not.
and
(b) I think it's a waste to die without benefitting someone else in the process (this excludes criminals etc).

You can still be burried without a "religious" ceremony, there are even atheist cemetaries out there.

Good. I still hate burial because the idea of being trapped in a box and then being left to the maggots to turn me into a will-o-wisp is not enticing.

Yes, being trapped in a box scares me too; it's more of being underground though (I think I might be able to deal with the box). Under so much soil, there's really no way whatsoever to get out, whereas the box (if it was cheap enough) might be able to be lifted. Still, cremation scares me more; I'm not fond of fire (well, I am, but not that close). I'd rather be still in one general piece than a bunch of ashes (which is just my opinion, of course; people can do it however they'd like). Ha, I'm not worried about being buried while I'm still alive; I worry about being buried dead and then being trapped there forever. (Because that makes so much more sense...)

Anyway, my license says I'm an organ donor (although like TM1 pointed out, it's more of a family issue; I assume they'd do as I asked, but you never know). I see no reason not to be if it helps people.

I'm an organ doner, and I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered. There have been cases where death was 'hurried' on someone to get their organs, but usually the person was already terminal and the push toward death came in the form of extra morphine. If I was unconscious and dying anyway, I wouldn't mind, and I also like the idea of my last act being the gift of sight or of life to another person.

I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered so that I'm not trapped in a box or an urn somewhere. I don't believe in a soul, but I like the idea of little bits of me-dust scattering over the world, nourishing forests, scratching the paint on cars, blowing through the air, and being eaten by fish.

I too am to be disposed of as conveniently as possible via cremation with no ceremonies and crying. I am not an organ donor, because they will not let me stipulate children only. To me, children are still innocent, but adults I cannot trust with my organs. What if they are a rapist or murderer? If you can't prove they are decent people, then I am not okay with my parts living in them.

I'm not and not really allowed to be as I have an autoimmune condition. Although I have thought about looking into it again....

Because you need your organs to go to the afterlife, duh. I'll be mummified in my pyramid tomb with my servants, belongings, and pickled organs.

I am, because I wont need them where I'm going. They can have everything but my eyes when I'm gone. Why? Because how else will I be able to see where I'm going?

Yes, I've got a card donating all the bits and pieces that are donate-able. Don't know what state they'll be in when I've finished with them though.

yes I am an organ donor, I feel it is an act of human kindness to donate them once I no longer need them.
