any American here ever purchased their home while single?
I am currently 25 and still with my dysfunctional family. Lately I am doing my best to save my money and aspire to have a high paying salary. At this moment I still work on minimum wage at a grunt job.
Like a lot of people, my fantasy is to live in my own home. Of course, everyone knows the story. House ownership has been more out of reach from us youngsters.
However, it seems married couples or DINKs get a leg up when buying a home. I don't plan on getting married due to trauma and I don't know if I will ever find a man. I was inspired by this YouTuber named "Solo in the Woods" who purchased a house off-grid in Maine on a single income. Even better, she lives an hour away from the beach!
I am just curious if any single folks have finally achieved their dream. Hopefully the same will happen to me...

sorry for late reply, just having discovered this thread- in 2008, about a generation after my peers, I finally was able to, at the height of the housing market [bad timing!], with every bit of green I could beg/borrow, get my little piece of heaven tin can out in the middle of the woods, nobody would lend me much of anything, I barely had enough to make the purchase of a tin can and 1/3 acre 40 minutes outside of the nearest small town. very quiet out here but for yahoos on 2-strokers making asses of themselves and busting the air itself with their damned racket. ![]()
