Hello, everyone!

I was recently reading several articles on people. Apparently, males and females are either Alphas, Betas or Omegas.

I am unsure myself whether I am a Beta Male or an Omega Male, although I am leaning towards the latter.

I'd guess that he is talking of the status a social animal has in a community. See on wikipedia: Alpha (biology)

I may be mistaken though.

I dunno then, probably an introverted alpha male. I certainly don't follow, but neither do I advertise my abilities in the hope that others will follow me. I usually just keep my head down and get on with it but then find people are looking towards me for answers anyway.

I'd rather just stay outside the whole hierarchy thing and treat everyone as equals though.

omega's a letter in the greek alphabet, more precisely it's the last letter. Alpha and beta are the first two.

Obviously, things like that get applied to all sorts of things.

heh, well I chose Beta, as Im not a huge macho man sex matchine brad pitt dude. But Im not weak, sickly and a dreg of society, I chose Beta, im just an average guy, tho a little skinny, but pretty intelligent. I dont need to be the leader, but I dont think im a complete outcast and not productive or benificial for society.

I kind of exist outside of the system.

I'm definitely not an Alpha Male. And don't even wish to be like the Alpha.

In a lot of ways I'm not even like the traditional male... I don't like to compete... don't have that constant drive to be the best. Or that constant drive to control, manipulate and use the world for my own purposes.

Or the desire to lead... and tell people what to do.

But I'll stand up for myself. And if I make a decision, I'll be forceful in sticking to it. If I make a commitment to do something, I'm going to try to make sure it happens.

I'm just on a quest to understand everything, and I don't assume I understand something when I really don't. This comes off as weak, and un-Alpha male. The Alpha male just does stuff, he lets other people worry about if he's right or wrong. Whether he understands the situation or not, what he's doing is the right way to do it.

I can lead or follow as necessary. I have no default setting in this respect. Sometimes you have to lead because no one else will step up and someone has to. As long as I don't get too bogged down in minor details I can do alright. If there's someone leading that's doing a good enough job then so be it.

Well said. Your post comes the closest, by far, to myself that any other post on this thread.

I too don't like competing. I also don't understand why men are supposed to persue women. Why can't women persue men? There is nothing shameful about a strong woman!

I also loathe sports and find it very boring. I do like politics, however.

I also tend not to brag. I find bragging to be embarrassing. I remember my grandfather bragged about me a lot when I was around 5 years old and I looked down in embarrassment when he did so.

I also don't put myself down, although if I am not good in a certain area, I will just admit it off the cuff. Likewise, if I am good at something, I will acknowledge it, but I do it in more of a matter-of-fact manner.

I think I know what Alpha is... what's Beta and Omega?
