What sorts of things have you received for Christmas in the past?
What are you wanting for Christmas this year?
I am asking this because we were having a conversation last night about Christmas Presents as we do yearly at about this time and i found out that my brother is getting a tortoise for Christmas at first i thought it was a joke but then i was ensured he is actually getting a tortoise for Christmas
Am i only one that thinks that getting a tortoise for Christmas is strange?

i love christmas, i dont think jesus was born on that day though in the past i have recived clothes, telescopes, rocks, sportscards and ninja turtles. this year i probably wont be reciving anything, because my mom has 4 grandaughters, and moneys tight. one of my sisters just bought her first home and i'll probably get her something for it. my other sister is currently feuding with my mom so i doubt i'll see her, and i'll probably get my mom a music cd

i am hoping for a Nintendo Wii for christmas this year

I don't really like big presents. I would like a few books or something.

We have opted out on big gifts this year. My nine year old (AS) is usually spoiled rotten and we end up with several large garbage bags full every year from everyone we know and then...she doesn't touch any of it all year!! ! We have the worst time ridding of any of it, as well because she is the hoarding type. *sigh*

I guess in some ways it is a good thing, as her baby sis now has about a million shiny new toys and will for years to come...

Instead, we will buy experiences. Each year we have usually bought a theatre show/concert etc, and this year we have decided on a trip to England.

So, I am taking time off of work before hand and we will be making up meals to give to people on the streets. Christmas morning we will open stockings filled with little goodies and then high school musical on ice in the evening. The plan is to leave for England the following day.

We figured that this is the best way to go, as we usually spend this kind of cash either way and we will each really enjoy the experiences! YAY!

Sega, videogames, camera, bike, ninja turtles stuff, cloths, PS2, TV, CHristmans was always a good holiday and I always got lots of stuff I just cant think of it all.

If your brother wants a tortoise then I think that's a lovely Christmas gift. I know someone who got a horse one Christmas so a tortoise is fine.

For gifts for myself, I pass around my Amazon wish-list. Music and books are great for me, although my best present in the past ten years was a portrait of my old dog.

my daughter asked for hermit crabs and got them, last year....with fancy painted shells.

DVD set of all the Star Trek movies.

I like useful presents and think makelifehappens idea is brilliant!
I usually get my kids lots of little presents as it is the opening them that they enjoy, they still like to have a christmas stocking even though they are now adults.
Last year I asked my family to give me a cd of their favourite music so that I could listen to some new stuff and also learn a bit more about them as we rarely see each other or talk, just get together onece a year to swap presents at christmas.

I don't ask for anything for christmas. But this year I am hoping to have enough money saved to buy myself a nice digital camera.
