I used to have pretty good skin, but lately it has been patchy in that some areas like chin, nose and some areas of cheeks are reddened and it is really peeing me off. I wash it, I put moisturiser on it lately in case it is dry but nothing is working.

I wear a lot of foundation most of day because I cannot bear to see it and am wondering if this might be making things worse?

Any ideas welcome.

if your health insurance is that good, you could see a dermatologist. . .

a lot of people don't want to see a specialist for something small, but I'm all about getting rid of the annoying stuff.

You may also have developed an allergy to some product or combination of products that you're using, and thereby the problem could be escalating it's self.

See what your library has on the topic.

:)

It could be dermatitis, seborrhea, eczema, or from a multitude of other conditions. The best solution would be to see a dermatologist about it. I'd take that action sooner rather than later, if it were my skin. Barring that, you may be able to find a skincare forum in which to get answers. Good luck.

i'm no skin expert, but for any sudden change in skin condition, please refrain from attempting to hide it with foundation.

if it really bothers you, you should go and see a doctor for it. self-treatment might cause more harm, since you do not know what is causing it.

Thanks, I shall mention it to doctor when I see him, it just seemed too petty to bring up.

Try washing your face in your own pee. The acidity cuts through the grease and dirt and unclogs the pores without drying or burning the skin. And it doesn't any sticky residue behind unlike soap.

Did you know back in oldie times people used to clean their clothes with piss. The trod on it like grapes.
Those people with the surname Walker actually meant piss walker.

I have also had my share of skin problems. Yeah, see a dermatologist, but also limit your cosmetics on those areas to POWDER. This really saved me. Liquid and cream-based foundations have more chemicals that can aggravate your skin. However, while wearing NO makeup would be best, you can put plenty of powder on and it won't harm your skin as much because it has fewer chemicals. Good luck!

You got that wrong. Piss was used in dyeing clothes to fix the dye. That is why posh people smell of piss when it rains because of their tweed jackets

There is really no befit to washing your face in piss. It has been used before on jellyfish stings though it must not be used on Portuguese Man O' War ,which incidentally is technically not a jellyfish but a siphonophore that is not even one animal but a group of organisms living in a co-dependent colony.

In the meantime before the doctor, don't put on foundation. I'd try mousterizer combined with an anti-inflamitor, like cortizone 10. If it's excema or something simular, this should help until you get a perscription. If not, it does no harm. ((Also try a gentler soap, a lot of the bar soap is heavy in perfume and will dry skin out.))

Thanks all...admittedly, I have been using a cream foundation. Max Factor. I used bodyshop before.

My skin seemed a little better when I woke up today having put a lot of moisturiser on before bed so I am wondering if the colder weather has provoked the problem alongside foundation.

Either way, I am thinking maybe skin is getting too dry in areas. I have the misfortune of having combination skin meaning I get...yep...the dreaded zits too.

The colder weather doesn't help much either.

I've gotten this too...I have combination skin and a very fair complexion.

Check your ingredients on your foundation...try switching to an alcohol free if your not using one that is. Honestly I would probably blame the foundation...I've tried some in the past that have actually left my face raw.

I switched to a mineral make-up not too long ago...love it. Before that, I couldn't dare wear the stuff everyday without problems.

I've had really dry skin lately, too. I'm assuming it's the drastic temperature changes lately that's been causing it. It's really weird since most people my age have very, very oily skin. I've been the opposite! lol Anyway, if the problem persues, I'd reccomend you find a dermatologist. 8)

I used to have psoriasis when I was younger. Various lotions help alleviate it.

Mineral makeup... not heard of that?
I never used to wear any but then my monthly zits started bothering me so I started using a cover stick. But I started getting obsessed with covering every little flaw with that, so I got foundation...body shop one wasn't too bad, but then switched to max factor. That was fine for a time, but now ive really noticed the unevenness of my skin colour, dryness around sides of nose etc.
Wonder if we have that mineral makeup here.

That is a rather interesting story.
