Heeeey, Wrongplanet!

Guess what?

I'm a ImageRavenImage! Corvus Corax! NEVERMORE!! !

And my character, Nairin, who I named my account after, is a Raven.

Image
Nairin is the non-chibi one.

The Raven is my favorite animal.

It's too bad I can't be a Chameleon later. They're my second favorite animal.

*walks away, partying with herself*

Wow... What a pretty character. Out of sheer curiosity, do you consider yourself a furry?

i thought this was about the band, too. :)

on the subject of ravens, maybe you find this bit of info interesting:
you probably remember the whole abu ghraib affair in iraq... the name of that city is pronounced abu (long u, like oo in BOO!) ghurayb (gh = a throaty gargling sound, short u like in d'uh, r with the tip of the tongue at the teeth, think nazi speeches or rammstein - the rest as in english). translated, it means "father of small crow birds", meaning like the place is as if it spawned those birds. so, ghurayb is the plural of a word whose singular is something along the lines of ghura, or ghuray (pronounciation as previously mentioned).
now, that sound is even more onomatopoetic than the corax in corvus corax. :)

Furry. < link.

Nice ravens. I prefer Jackdaws, however. (Corvus monedula)

Love those silver eyes. :D

Well, now that I know what a Furry is, no, not exactly. I do like anthropomorphised animals, as do I sometimes enjoy seeing them, but I'm not a fanatic.

All corvids are awesome in my book.

In my particular book, these are especially sacred animals. There are two facets to this. One is the Native American raven spirit, which is among the deities in my personal pantheon. Another is that ravens are associated with the old Norse god Odin, and appeared on his banner. Odin is not in my personal pantheon (we are neutral), but some of his brethren are...

Because both incarnations of these animals are sacred to me, so too are all corvids. I absolutely love to feed common crows around here. I sometimes go get breakfast at a diner on the weekends; I order an omelet with toast; I eat the omelet myself, and then give the toast to the crows that are waiting outside; this seems a sacrifice to me, just like communion for Christians.

I may be silly and archaic, but all corvids are sacred to me, and I enjoy "talking" to them and sharing my food with them.

Good fortune,

- Icarus has a raven totem and a raven standard on the back of his Jeep (Really!)...
