The very first message board that I've ever joined was a nick.com message board for the tv show Hey, Arnold. My username was onairdare (reference to the Nick show of the same name). I joined that message board in 2002, when I was eleven years old. It was very exciting for me at the time.

What's the first message board you've ever joined? When did you join, and what was your username?

Uhm. I was 12 (that would be 2002, we didn't have this sort of internet connection before that. We used to have one that would cost more the more time you spent on the internet, so we weren't allowed to use it) or something like that. Joined a board, alongside my brother, about the Rayman games
We used to be obsessed about them.
Second one - when I was 13. About the lame crappy band Evanescence (and I still like them...they were what got me into music  YES I FAIL) I obsessed over them back then.
Or wait. Did the message boards for the Creatures games come before that (haha, I remember my brother was there too)? Gahh, I don't remember the timeline!
Those early message boards were, oddly enough, the only ones in which I got past a couple of posts, until this one.
My usernames? Umm. I don't remember what I was in the Rayman forums. In Evanescence forums, I think I was something embarassing ending with -ca. In Creatures forums, I had the lamest username ever. Crimsontear, I think.
I've used a million different names over the years.

The first time that I've joined a message board was the year 2000.

I posted on a Bravenet board and that was also in 2002. There was no username and you didn't have to login to post. You could post under whatever name you wanted. I went by Beth (last name) and then I went by Beth only and then Bad Beth.

Before there were message boards, there was Usenet. On Usenet, there were thousands of groups about all kinds of things on an open and decentralized network. There were no administrators/moderators, but if you posted something that was against the agreed upon group "rules", you could expect to get "flamed" or "plonked" (added to people's blacklists).

Usenet is still around today, though most people associate it with Google Groups, which is just a front-end. During the heyday (mid to late 1990s), most ISP's would provide Usenet services and could be accessed with a client such as Outlook Express or [Free] Agent. Even AOL provided a Usenet service, resulting in what became Eternal September.

Before Usenet, there were BBS's, and anyone with a modem and the right software could host one, and while my family did host one for some time, they were generally before my time (plus we had to close our game of Mixed Up Mother Goose and start up the BBS software when someone wanted to dial in)

I was 18, and the message board was gameFAQs. If I remember correctly, my username was KalikaScott... a variant on Kali-Ma and a reference to my heritage.

The first forum I ever joined was the USA Network forums in 2005. I was obsessed with Monk at the time :D

The place is dead now that the show ended. I breifly popped my head back in there late last year.

Ooh yeah GameFAQs, I forgot about that. That might've been the first forum I joined now that I think about it...

Grapevine on MSN groups or was it some next Msn Messenger crew group?

I'm not sure but I got banned from Grapevine oand I literally had no clue why but to me, it just makes absolutely no sense.
I do remember not taking it too well.
