Or are you still living with your family? What was it like moving out on your own?

I'm 21 and still living at home, although I get the feeling like it's time for me to move on. But I'm scared. What if I can't pay the bills. it just seems like so much responsibility. Rent money, bills, taxes grown up stuff!

I moved out to live on my own when I was 20, first it was a furnished room then apartments, a trailer, then back
into apartments. Start small, start simple. Financial obligations first then fun.

I moved from my parents' house into a college dorm in August 2007, at age 27.

I still live at home, but the upstairs portion of my house functions as my "apartment." It is the ideal living arrangement, with no roommates except for cats. They are much easier to live with than people are.

I am still living at home...

I am moving out soon though...probably in late December this year or January 2008. It will be in an assisted flatting situation.
I am only 16 so this will be a struggle...but I don't really have a choice.

I moved out when I was 22 (after collage) in 2005 and have since established my own place and turned it into a sweet bachlor pad!

I moved out when I was nearly 20. My family helped me move up the road to my grandfather's rental house. My brothers' friends helped too. We did it on my days off from work so I had a fun three day weekend. Moving is always fun for me even though it's work. My parents gave me some furniture for me to use and I used my uncle's bookshelves and chairs he had stored in his garage at his rental house. I also used my cousin's couch she had stored on my grandfather's land. I also used some of my family's old dishes out in the granary. I also bought some silverware at the folkshop I worked at. I had lot of fun shopping for my new place. My mother helped me a little bit.

This thread is f*cking depressing me. I'm on the verge of bustin' this joint. The only apartments my girlfriend and I can afford, they have no openings. I'm on a waiting list.

Moved out part-time ( during university terms) when turned 19, and then permanently when graduated aged 22/23. I think it may actually have been a very bad idea actually because what i did almost as soon as got to uni was drink, smoke and etc without the customary controls set by my parents, but on the other hand both they and i were utterly fed up with each other!!
After college( 4-6 rooms around a kitchen-living-room and bathroom set-up) , lived in bedsit to begin with, then shared-flats or houses. Managed to get a "safe" flat all to myself with a housing association in Manchester in 1996, but stupidly, recklessly, threw it up as a result of getting swept up in a personal development programme in London, and falling in love with one of its other members. Since then always shared again.
At moment share a flat, a house really but most of it needs renovating, with my son and his father, but am just beginning to see the real possibility of moving out to a room close by in the village here, and just being here in the week with my son when his dad is on the road visiting clients. This would be *!*!*!*!*!*!*!**!*!*!*!*! !*!*!*!* :D :D :D

I lived independently for two years, from being 19 to 21, but am now back with my mother. Its tough because even though I only lived in really awful rented rooms, I did love London, and I liked having my own space. I almost did a really long spiel about it in the haven but then I deleted it. I mean, I used to go to gigs about three times a week, now if I want to go out I have to tell my mum all the details, and she asks me if I'm sure if I can cope.

I used to drink vodka, ( i mean, a lot of vodka) in my room, and everything was a state. I was in a lot of debt and generally not coping. I needed to come home, but I really hope that in a couple of years I'll be ready to branch out on my own again.

I'm 16 years old, soon 17, and I'm living at home, though there's been talk about foster care as always, so you never know? I am going to live in England with a friend next summer, however. Does it count as moving out if you know you will only live a few months independent of your family?

I moved out when I was 21, it was 2000 then. My #2brother moved out with me. A year later he quit both his jobs, so we moved back in with our mother, who was having her home repo'd in several months. So I foolishly rushed into a trailer in 2002 that we all could live in. A year later my #4brother moved in. About a year after that my mother moved out. This year my #2brother quit his job again(for the second time, the first time our mother was still there so we could cover all bases), so I abandoned the trailer(Can't afford it) and I'm now living in an apartment with my #4brother.

I moved out to bcome a student in 2001. Moved back in 2002. Having ME on top of it all meant that I could not fend for myself on a daily basis. Turned 25 recently, no sign of me leaving and my parents are not forcing me out of the door either.
