Why is it that, when you have a stuffy nose, the nose will be most stuffy when lying down, least stuffy when standing up, and somewhere in between when sitting down?

I would guess that our lungs are more compressed in that position, and the power of the airflow is restricted. Upright body posture will allow your lungs and air passages to expand and contract (regular breathing motions) more naturally and easily.

I always thought it was because gravity pulled the mucus down near the lungs when I am standing upright, but when I am lying down my breathing pushes it outward into the nasal passage.
