Definately moving out of home!

Well, today I visited the group home that I was going to move into. I signed the official papers and next week am starting my day visits there and the following week will be there in days and overnights.
I will be allowed internet access on Wednesdays at the library...can go to the gym on Mondays and Thursdays with the others...overall, it sounds ok.
I chose the bedroom that I wanted today also. It's quite nice...a single bedroom with a bed, desk, set of drawers and closet...it has a nice view of a lake near by, too. I can bring my TV, dvd player, dvds, books and even posters to put up on my bedroom wall if I wish.

Since I am vegan...the staff have assigned me a seperate cupboard for my "things"...[cooking utensils, food etc] in the Kitchen.
This so far, all seems good since I didn't want to even move out in the first place.

Oh yea...and I will be going home for the weekends.

how come internet only on wed? you wont have it at the place were your going to live? is it a short stay or long term stay? can you come and go as you please? what kinds of things will they help you with?

No, it's not an institution.
It's a group home for youth with mental health problems or various disabilities. Of course, you have to be well to go there.
It's just a regular house, not institution-like at all. It is too well organised...but I thought that was a good thing anyway.

The staff don't provide internet access for residents, so I have to use the library. As for why its only on Wednesdays...I have no idea, it's just the rules. It is a long term stay until I am ready to live completely independantly...such as in a "real" flatting situation. Yes, I can come and go as I please if I let a staff member know where I am going and what time I will be back. They help with finding you a job and/or course...help you to learn life skills that you will need when you live fully independantly.

Wow, that sounds great, i wish i could do something like that, too much change going on tho, from living there during the week to living home on the wknd, and being around other disabled teens would drive me bonkers. Anyways best of luck, tell us how it is, after you move in!
