Ok, enough of posting in The Haven. Yeah, my sister is dying and I can't do anything for saving her, so I wanna do something for keeping her mind busy and then she would feel less depressed and happier.

I'm thinking about making a time capsule with my siblings, including some photos, pictures, magazines, toys, figurines, CDs and DVDs, tags, maybe videogames, and other interesting things. I shared a PS2 with my sister, so I wanna put it inside the capsule, my twin siblings will say I'm crazy, but it doesn't matter.

Does someone here have made a time capsule or a similar project? What are your experiences and suggestions?

What would you include in a time capsule? Your suggestions will be apreciated.

Do you think it's a good idea? I don't know if she could be more depressed with this activity.

If you think it's a bad idea, do you know other activities I could do with my sister (considering she can't move her right arm or walk, right now she's in bed at the hospital)?

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I think anything you do that shows her you are thinking about her and that you care about her is a good idea.

I made a time capsule to myself when I was pretty young. I think I made it in 1990 and it was only supposed to be opened by myself in the year 2000. Unfortunately I lost it and I never got to open it. :(

first question... may i ask what condition she has?

She has cancer, exactly a sarcoma. First the tumor was in the right side of her neck, now it's invading her right lung, that makes her breathing so difficult, and she had asthma since before she had her tumor. She's receiving asthma medication, and she's feeling better, the problem is that asthma medications forces her heart to work faster, and that would be dangerous. Today the doctor talked to my mom about it, and it's official, she would die soon of a cardiorespiratory collapse. My sister doesn't know what the doctor said, but I know she suspects something.

(Sorry if I'm not using the correct words in english, I don't know some exacly medical names and words)

Are they doing any chemotherapies or any type of cancer elimination methods?

That's so bad! Did you bury your time capsule or just keep it in the basement/attic?

Well I forgot to write that the tumor was mistaken with a paraganglioma (not a malign tumor) after the biopsy. Then the tumor began to show malign characteristics, but it was too late for doing something.

A doctor told us that it' not reccomended chemo in sarcoma cases (sarcomas grow faster with chemo), so my sister didn't take it. She was taking alternative medicine and traditional remedies, and she was developing well, when suddenly she can't breath well.

Yeah, we just put it in the attic somewhere. I couldn't find it when it was time to open it and I've moved many times since then.

I wish you and your sister the best in this tough situation. I think you should offer her whatever support you can, and I think bringing something to her to remind her of the good times you have had together is a good idea.

Time Capsule is a fantastic idea. It will help her to know that she'll be remembered.

I'm not sure how old she is etc... but if she could write letters to your parents or draw pictures for them - or .... if not, can you record something - but you probably shouldn't be allowed to listen to it (or if video - see it).

If you've got a ball camera on your computer, give her time to say things and burn it to CD without watching.

She's 19 years old, she loves drawing, but now she can't do it well, she only can move her left arm and it's weak. I would include her last drawings, she made it on may and june 2007.

She doesn't like to appear in pictures in her condition. Maybe I could include audio in a CD (video would be difficult).

ok... at 19 she'd have lots to say to her family so audio is definitely the way to go.

It's very tragic and you have my thoughts and prayers.
