I wasn't posting on WP in the past few days because the computer screen was so blurry! But everything looked fine, so I got a eye exam and now have glasses. This is the first time I have ever had glasses so Its gonna take some getting used to.
Here are my speckies!



What do you all think of glasses? Do you like them or do you prefer contacs instead? Or go all out and get laser surgery?

Glasses are good. I can't wear contact lenses as my eyes are too dry. I've worn glasses since I was 17. Never realised I needed them until one day at college a girl passed her new ones around and I tried them on - the result was absolutely amazing - walls and desks suddenly had sharp straight edges and I could recognise people at the other end of the room. Went to opticians and ended up with specs straight away. Had to get separate reading glasses too recently - it's an age thing

I think you look excellent! I have had to wear glasses since I was about 6 or 7 years old, and they never bothered me, and I would never get contacts because the thought of having to stick something in my eye just really bugs me. With me, the first thing I do in the morning is put my glasses on, other wise I end up stubbing my toe (which I do any way, I have size 16 feet at only 15 years old).

I knew someone who wore specs that looked like they came sixties, but he only wore them for reading. It was difficult not to laugh when he wore them once.

I tried contacts for a while (semi permeable ones) and they stuck to my eyeball! One evening I spent around half an hour trying to get them out, it was both infuriating and horrible at the same time. It was after this sort of problem that the optician said I could no longer wear them as the lack of moisture in my eyes meant they weren't "floating" properly and just sticking.

While I was wating for my eye exam I saw these ads posted on the walls about 'breathable' contacts, how does air get beind the lens if they are on your eyeball? They say they are good for dry eyes, how can I tell if my eyes are dry?

I tried for contact lenses several years after the first attempt and the optician put a blank contact lens into each eye and told me to go for a walk around town for an hour them come back. On my return they were sticking to my eyes so a definitive no to contact lenses.

I don't know if there is a more scientific way of checking nowadays.

I know; the first time I got glasses I was like OMG, I can see everything in front of me! I thought I could without them but I didn't; I saw 20 times more with them. It was amazing.
