Hobbies: Magic or numismatics?

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here in a long time. My interests are numismatics (the study of money) and magic (illusions). Right now I'm practicing de'vo's insanity ladder with a ring from de'vo's de'ring. A ring manipulation/magic DVD. I'm mainly specialize in coin and sponge magic, I know alot of sleights such as the hein ping chien, shuttle pass, classic palm, finger palm, downs palm, edge grip, benzai friction pass, kaps subtely, ramsey subtely, etc.

The picture in my avatar is a saint gaudens $20 gold piece designed by saint gaudens augutus. They were orginally made in high relief, first as ultra high relief and then high relief, and required several blows (or strikes) to get the full detail. These are all quite rare and they didn't stack well as well they were hard on the dies so they switched to a normal relief. The mint also made incuse designed (below relief) $2.50 and $5 gold pieces that are actually stamped BELOW the surface, think of it like a belly button. In numismatics I specialize in gold coinage and counterfeit/alteration detection.

Oh, i also do metalldetecting, have a whites spectrum dfx now and have
found some coins over the years - thats always fun - this is a silvercoin
from 1899 that i found in a field 10 inches down in the dirt

One thing i really love with metalldetecting, is that i can go to places
and walk around, and if someone comes i just look a little busy and walk
into the bushes while listening to the headphones its piece in public,
and its so obvious what i`m doing that if i`m standing in the middle of a
field or whatever, no one wonders or cares, they just move on ususally

I recently won in a contest a no edge lettering presidental dollar with a grease strike through as well. 2 errors in one! MS65++

Well I know next to nothing about coins, I get excited if I see a 1 cent coin or a New Zealand coin. I have a bit of an interest in doing magic, which I think is part of just an interest to fool or get a reaction out of people. I have tried the thing comeing out from behind peoples ears, not too hard when you now it and it can realy surprise children. I know a few facts about curency and what not, but nothing serous, like the fact that they used to use tiger parts as curency and that coins were useful with the roman empire but when it fell the coins were almost worth nothing.

I own 1 gold coin. An 1854 type 1 Liberty Head gold dollar that is in MS63-65 condition, very nice. I never sold it because it is not certified, yet. Condition can make a huge difference in price, in a coin of this age and rarity. Uncertified, this coin would only fetch from $300-$500, but once graded, this coin will sell at $1200+, hence the importance of certification. Right now, my coin collecting hobby is at a standstill, but will resume in the future.

I also enjoy magic, but my knowledge of the hobby is limited. I guess I will remain a happy spectator, for now.

Interesting. I've heard of the 1943 copper cents(very rare), but never heard of the 1944-s steel cent. I've learned something new today, thanks.

Exact opposite of the 1943 copper. The ones that stick, are the fakes. Approximately 40 are known to exist.

Now this is a gem The only known proof $1 Indian 1865,
struck 5 times on reverse upon closer inspection - and the
only known proof quality gold coin from that time in the US
if i`m not mistaking 1865!!
