I don't know, but I used to think it hypocritical of Christians to cry over a dead person, as they're going to heaven, right? Felt they didn't really take their book seriously. However, I've gotten away from that type of thinking, and am more open minded now.
About children and women, well... I don't know. If I lost a child, I'd probably want to die. I think people can imagine that same feeling and just don't want that to happen in general, and when it does, maybe it sends a pang of fear through them (you know, the "what if...?").
