Why are werewolves sometimes consider undead: its not like they are animated corpses.

Umm... I don't know... :? they get on with vampires and zombies and stuff.

They're not exactly normal wolves. :D

I guess you have a point though - it's not technically correct for them to be called "Undead"

When were they considered undead?

can we have a reference please...

In any case, the older forms of undead mean, "dead" but not dead, not able to die.
I think that it used to be the case that you got attacked by a werewolf and died, then became one yourself... Nowadays, the legends seem to be that you only become one if you survive.

oh... well, the writers of the Simpsons are obviously subject experts... :D

and Ned Flanders, he'd put a religous spin on anything. Undead sounds more religious than werewolf.

Well this could be an explanation. Often through different mythologies the dog/wolf has often been seen to gaurd the transition to the after life: Cerberus, Anubis and a large others, this has often coined the term Hell hound. My then theory of the moon is something to conect it to water wich is also linked to life and death amd tides rise higher on full moons. It might be something that an evil spirit conected to the after life corupts the body turning it into undead when the spirit comes to fruition.

Did that make sense?

At one time people thought that people who died in mortal sin were reborn as blood thirty werewolves. During the night they roamed as monsters by day they were bound to their death bodies.
