I dislike doorbells. Nothing ever good happens when someone rings my doorbell. I don't get many visitors, and I insist people call before they land on my door step (and my aunt became very upset when she dropped in unannounced one time -at 2000 hours, on a weekday evening after I had worked hard all day, and after she and my grandmother had gone out to a restaurant that I actually walked past on my way home and they were probably there at the time, and only showed up because I was "nearby" the restaurant and they were "saving gas" so they didn't have to make a second trip down - and I *made* her stay outside until I felt that I and my house was in acceptable order. I might have let her in if she wasn't the type of person to look at a sink full of dishes or whatever, and include it in the family christmas newsletter. She complained to my mother that I hadn't let her in, and insisted I be taught that what *I* did was rude. Mom laughed at her, as she agreed with me - don't arrive at someone's house unannounced, you *might* not be welcome. )

Door bells on a Sunday are particularly bad. That means someone is making a point of ringing it, and its not a person looking for donations, etc., but means someone wants in - the landlord (who is supposed to give 24 hours notice) or a bylaw officer, or someone mad or upset. Or someone who thinks they are doing a "good deed" by dropping in on me to relieve my obvious loneliness - they simply don't believe that someone can spend the day without filling it with weather reports and relationship analysis.

Anybody else find doorbells to be the work of the devil?

Yes. Doorbells and the people who ring them are annoying. Not only doorbells, though. Phones, as well. In fact, any device(s) used by people, so that they may intrude into/upon my world, should be destroyed. Don't call me. I'll call you. Or not.

phones! I hate them, a friend ALWAYS says "why do you take so long to answer the phone", after she tries to contact me
now she knows about my AS, and now makes jokes like "hi, I'm natalie portman" or something similar
