I like dogs (cats are okay to) but I hate if they try to lick me or are loud

I sometimes say i like dogs but i don't know how true that is anymore. I used to get annoyed with the way that dogs are such attention whores but then one day i met a dog that was awesomely intelligent and that made me like dogs for a while. Because i liked him so much i started liking dogs in general. He died at the beginning of 2009 though and now ive started finding that im slipping back into finding dogs to be too annoying again.

I did have a bird when i was a kid (8-10) that we got from a very young age and was hand reared and so ridiculously tame. I used to be able to call its name and if it wasn't in it's cage it'd come flying through the house in an attempt to find me. If i was sitting there in the morning and my mum brushing my hair the bird would full on screech and attack my mum. It even got out once, was flying around the house, then off to some nearby fields, i actually got it back by calling it's name and it coming down and landing on my hand after it being out for a good hour.

Hmm, the best way of putting it is that i really really love animals that belong to me but otherwise i just find them annoying. I've always wanted a tortoise though!

Snakes, because you don't need to get anyone to mind them when you go on holiday for a week. I like low-maintenance things :D

I miss, miss, MISS having a dog so very much; I think I'm far more fluent in canine than human

I also love my rat; he's last of 3 that were rescued from the chopping block in a lab

Love cats too though- so quirky!

Animals/insects, I love them ALL! (except big hairy spiders, mosquitoes and biting flies)

I LOVE having all types of pets, because I just LOVE animals. But I think dogs are the best. :)

I'm definitely a cat person. My earliest memory is going to the shelter to adopt my first cat at age 3, and I've owned cats all throughout my life. My current cat, Miss Kitty, is the one who I've had the longest (11 years). I would absolutely love to own more than one cat (2 or 3 would be ideal), but Miss Kitty is too territorial. :?

Cha-cha-cha-CHIA PET!

I'm sorry, I had to say it. It reminded me of the commercial.

At the moment, Wolf hybrids.

A poster above said they like heavily pack oriented type dogs, and these definately are, but they are NOT protective. They are high content, and they act very "wolfy", including acknowldeging my husband and me as the alpha male and alpha female. That completely messes up the guard dog idea. It's the alpha's job to protect the pack. They will bark at somebody, and they might attack or bite if somebody were attacking one of us and we weren't doing a decent job of fighting back, but otherwise, forget it. They just look intimidating.

I could tell you a story about what happened one day last month concerning that very thing. If you want to hear it.

Luckily, they look intimidating enough to keep everyone away.
