Dunno, this has probably been posted before, but it suddenly popped in my head (seeing the other two Trek threads) and I thought it would be fun.

Should be fairly straightforward, just pick whichever one you like best (or one of the other two options).

Let's try to keep this peaceful, guys ;)

I'll just start this off by saying I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan...I even like the prequels

Could never really get into Star Trek. I really like the fourth movie though (the one with the whales), and there was an episode of TNG that I happened to flip past and really liked, where Picard was using the holo-deck and found himself in a private detective story...that was awesome.

I'm a Doctor Who person first and a Star Wars person second.

Trek doesn't enter into it.

I'd always tended to classify Trek with Lost in Space and various other old Sci Fi shows. They were good but not great.

Until last year, I'd never even watched a single episode of TNG. I only knew Star Trek from the TV Series and the Movies. (of which only 2, & 4 were particularly good).

Then last year, I watched the entire Next Generation - all 7 years, from start to finish. It was surprisingly good. I tried to move on to Deep Space 9 but couldn't obtain it, so I got Voyager instead. I didn't survive episode 1 of Voyager - it was so bad.

Oh and regarding Star Wars... I like the prequels and I like most of George's modifications. I don't dwell (tantrum) over the modifications that I don't like.

I like Doctor Who and Babylon 5 better.

I loved Star Wars as a kid, but I've pretty much outgrown it. Also, I find it impossible to like Star Wars now because of all the friggin' marketing... I'm sorry, but seeing pictures of Darth Vader and Yoda on EVERY PRODUCT AT THE STORE kind of ruined it for me.

The first two Star Trek shows were decent enough. Deep Space 9 was a disappointment, and Voyager even more so. I haven't bothered with Enterprise yet.

Oh, and LONG before the Borg ever assimilated anyone, the Cybermen were converting people and pointing out how useless it was to resist...

Yeah, Doctor Who is pure awsomeness :D I have yet to find an episode that I don't like. :thumright:

But other then that, I checked the Star Wars option. I used to be a Trek fan, but I moved onto Star Wars 8)

I like 'em all; Star Trek, Star Wars, Bab 5, Dr. Who (tho I'm kinda spotty, I'm mainly see the Tom Baker, and the ...oh...since there's a new one, it would be 2 and 3 back). Stargates (all of them).

Heck, if it tells a good story, and it makes you think, I'm for it. If that makes me a Sci-Fi slut...so be it...;)

Same problem here...especially with Batman lately >_< I try not to let it ruin my enjoyment, though, all of my friends know I've been a huge Star Wars/Batman fan since I was little, so I don't feel like a poseur or anything like that.

...and a small percentage of said merchandise is actually kind of cool ;) Wish they had the crazy light-up spring-loaded sound-action Lightsabres when I was little.

Star Wars killed science fiction.

I like them both. As a kid I loved the original Star Wars films and still do, Ep.1 and Ep.3 are OK.
As a kid I also loved the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Star Trek films and still do. I also enjoyed "The Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine" series. And I'm looking forward to the new Star Trek movie.

I've unfortunately, never really seen either. Well, I saw little bits of pieces of Star Trek when I was little because my cousins dad was obsessed with it, but I can't really tell you much about it. I've never seen Star Wars at all. I want to see it, but they never have the first one at the library, & I don't want to watch the rest until I watch the first. I don't have the money for Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, or any other movie place, unfortunately, so, until I find the first, I guess I won't be seeing it.

I've watched all the Star Wars episodes, and would say that I'm a mild fan. I've never been able to get into Star Trek though, it was just too far-fetched and sitcom-y.

LOL... I had also been a Batman fan as a kid, but my brother has an Aspie-level obsession with the character... which is cool and all, but it killed most of my interest in Batman as well.

And when I was little, I wished they'd had Star Wars Legos. Ironically, they didn't come out with them until I was no longer playing with Legos... :P

It's debatable whether Star Wars actually counts as science fiction. In many ways, it seems more like fantasy with a space setting.

I used to eat, live and breathe Star Trek until I "grew up". No offense to hard-core Trekkies but IMO, Star Trek is juvenile. Far too much to explain in detail right now but it's just the same old kindergarten lesson over and over again; getting along, playing nice, overcoming adversity and embracing diversity. Blue sky ideals to be sure but there's much more to life - real life than that. People will always have hate, greed, strife, jealousy and all that that Star Trek doesn't have.

While Star Wars has fantastic technology and magical powers and stuff, it's far more realistic in terms of the way people interact with one another which makes Star Wars far more believable and better for me as a whole than Star Trek.
