My wife calls me at work, apparently just to let me know that I ruined her lunch plans to eat the rest of last night's pizza because I left it sit out instead of putting it in the fridge.

A debate follows with her insisting that the meat and cheese have spoiled and she will get food poisoning if she eats it, and with me insisting that I eat left-out pizza plenty of times and that there's nothing wrong with it.

She threw the pizza away before I got home, probably to spite my position because I said that I was going to eat it for dinner (just to spite her position).

What do you think?

I think that she knows damn well that eating the pizza would have been fine, and she had to throw it out to avoid me demonstrating so. I also think that she just called me with the intent of being a bitch- it's PMS week.

I'd eat pizza that's been sitting out for like 4 days.

overnight isn't that bad - personally I wouldn't eat it but my brothers would, pizza in our house often gets left on the table or counter accidentally (or because of an overly full fridge) and neither of them has gotten sick/died because of it

Think she's over reacting a bit, though I wouldn't eat it just on the basis of I hate re-heated/cold pizza

It depends if the cat has slept on it. The cat hair sticks in my throat.

I'd eat it for sure, and i've done it before. I'm not such a picky eater though.

No, not me. It's not a fear of food poisoning, for some reason it's just a turn-off. I won't eat cold pizza either.

I guess I would, as long as it's not too bad.

Nope I wouldn't...but if you wanted it that bad I would have let you have it. I would probably caution you first, especially if it had sausage on it.

People have different comfort zones when it comes to food...that's something you can't change, alot of it has to do with how picky of an eater we may be or how we were trained at home concerning food. You can argue about it all you want, but trust me, you'll most likely be wasting your breath. You could even do labwork on the pizza to prove it's 100% safe, you still couldn't get me to eat it knowing it sat out all night without gagging.

Yeah, when I'm at my dads house we just leave it on the table until it gets eaten.

I have done it but I do not make it a habit. Some people enjoy cold pizza as well... but not me.

I would be worried it wasn't safe.

I wouldn't, but I've known people who do it all the time. I don't think it would make you sick at all. How do you think frat houses sustain themselves when recovering on Monday mornings?
