I really don't understand. why would they do this to so many innocent people? So many people in Israel are Jewish, and look what Hiltler and the others did to them! why would they do this, if they know that is what happened, to people of their own faith, maybe even their family, why would they harm, and kill so many innocents like that???

Gaza, the place that was bombed, is under the control of a group called Hamas, which was firing rockets into Israeli towns. Israel was trying to defend itself. I don't think they were trying to hurt innocent civilians, they were trying to convince Hamas to stop firing their rockets (and possibly crush Hamas altogether).

I don't see why any violence is necessary at all. I know it may sound silly, but why can't we all just be peaceful and get along??

The response from the Israeli Government was way out of proportion.Deliberately targeting schools that are under control of the UN is unforgivable.I sympathise with the ordinary Israeli citizens but their government has let them down.

Not wanting to take sides or anything...

The way I've heard it explained is that the Hammas were firing into the Israeli towns from within the Gaza strip. More to the point, they were deliberately placing those rocket launchers etc on the tops of schools, hospitals etc...

The idea being that the Israelis would be reluctant to harm civillians, many of whom are Jewish by taking out those weapons. Of course, if they don't take them out, they'll continue to fire and kill their people and if they do take them out, the could be killing their own people or other innocent civilians.

I don't think either choice is a good one.

Personally, If I lived in the middle east, I'd be making it a bit of a priority to find a nice new country to live in. I think it's mispelt... with all the bombs, perhaps God wasn't saying it would be a "holy land" but rather a "holey land".

Well, it doesn't really matter which side you take the killing of innocent civilians is a disgrace. As far as Hamas, using civilians as 'shields', that is very debatable. If you listened to the accounts of Palestinian civilians they claimed that Israeli soldiers fired at them knowingly, including children.

Whichever side you take should not alter ones morality.

At the end of the day all political parties place their agendas ahead of the needs of the people. If people (innocent) foreign or domestic happen to be caught up amongst it, they feel it is just part of the process.

Most religions and societies seem to have a law against killing people.
Since it's something they all have in common - why do it at all - innocent or not.

Of course, nothing we do will make a difference. It's the decision-makers and fanatics that need containing somehow... ...and of course, you'd probably have to rewrite the internal politics of "the man on the street".

Not an easy task.

Israel is God's country, so I support them 100%. Whatever decisions they make, I respect them.

No one is innocent, anywhere.

Religion is an evil concept disguised as being good.
