Does it have a problem running programs or does it mostly seem to just make a lot of beeping or have a loud fan?

I have had viruses on my computer before (mostly trogans) and these tend to keep some programs from running or makes the computer 'crash' when performing an operation. To get rid of these you might have to get a software program that will clean them out for you, one that is up to date on the lastest trogan and virus varients. You can buy this from a computer store or online.

If it is just noises, it could be a hardware problem. Beeping means that the computer is trying to tell you something, maybe something is disconnected when it shouldn't be or there is a hardware malfunction somewhere. Each beep pattern has a differant meaning, which is ususally explained in the manual. A loud fan could mean that the computer might be getting too warm, and the fan is working overtime to cool it. But this last part about the fan is a guess, as I haven't had problems with the fan in any of the computers that I've had.

Take a look here: http://www.download.com/windows/securit ... contentNav

Sophos ( http://www.sophos.com ) is one of my favourites. Not included in the list above.

My PC can't catch a virus because I have outstanding antivirus protection.

If your firewall is strong then I believe your statement is correct, if it is not, then your system is with a high probability infected too.

Remember, even though your anti-virus reports that the system is not infected, it probably is.

My laptop has the best ever anti-virus program which also protects against hackers and everything, I highly recommend it. It's called OS X :P

in my experience, loud noises can be something as simple as the fan needing a cleaning.

open it up, and check the fan
