When I was like 7 or something and saw my first pair of brass doors, I was like MOM!! LOOK!! ! THOSE DOORS HAVE TO BE WORTH AT LEAST A MILLION DOLLARS!! THEY FREKIN GOLD!! !

Did you have a similar story when you first saw brass lets hear it.

it's a nice metal, seems both warm and cool but not cold.

When I was wee, my dad and I were shopping for new doors for our house. He also bought brass handles for them and, because they were yellow and shiny, I was amazed that we were getting gold handles for our doors. I thought we must have been pretty rich until he told me they were actually brass. I'd forgotten about this incident until looking at this thread.

No. Brass is brass and gold is gold. It's easy to tell the difference.

If it doesn't destroy me, it's brass.

i can tell the difference and always have.
i collect brass objects and have a number in a row on my window-sill here.

hey alin, hehehe ok, you got me in here, you just HAD to post a picture of brass doors.

heres my story about brass and first recognised brass (actually brass plating and yes, ON DOOR HARDWARE)


ok, after a funeral of my grandfather we had all went to a fancy restaurant, inside we went to dining room and sat down, so as usual i look around with my head, and seen a brass plated closer, yes a brass plated DOOR CLOSER (norton 7700 series with paralell arm)so many knowing me, i just had to stare at the thing, so i ate my meal looking at the as doro calls it, EYE CANDY.

as we were leaving i seen another, then i got up, stared at my mirror image on the bottom of the metal box that covered the closer and some old man poked his cane at my foot because of my daydreaming.

as we exited out the door after the meal i had seen a chair from in dining room so what i did was got on the chair and was looking alittle closely at the closer reading the label that shows about how to adjust (pretty loud too) was pretty embarrassing in a way as i think about it, i was told by my uncle to get down from the hair then i left.

then thought wow, those must been really expensive to buy from a door company or from norton door controls.

i still go there once in a while, they are a bit pricy at times
