that people often say a man with long hair and a beard looks like Jesus, but you never hear anyone say that a man with a ponytail looks like George Washington?

Hmmm....maybe because Jesus got more pictoral exposure than George Washington?

Not sure, but I had always heard that. That white guy with the long hair and beard isn't Jesus anyway, just some hippie the white man made up. The real Jesus was Middle Eastern so he probably looked more like Osama Bin Laden, except younger.

Because powdered wigs have gone out of style in most countries.

Given how much exposure the picture of Jesus, as a white man, as gotten...I can't help but laugh at the thought of him looking like Bin Laden. Although, given the location of his birth, and the time frame, you're probably right.

Reminds me of that sixties poster of G W with a 'crewcut' that said "Get a haircut Hippy ! !"

I just used Washington as an example as he was the first one who came to mind. I could have just as easily said King George III, King Louis XVI, Mozart, or dozens of other famous men from that period.

Because Jesus is inherently funny. When was the last time you saw the head of a velociraptor pasted on George Washington?

Oh I don't think I have seen pix of Jesus more than George Washington. He is on the US dollar bill. I have seen many more of those than pix of Jesus.

I think it's the powdered wig thing. I wonder when that will make a comeback?

I would like to see that! I tried googling "George Washington poster get a Get a haircut Hippy" with and without quotes, and with both spellings of hippy/hippie but so far came up dry.
