NOOOOOO....just delete it, delete them all....if one comes to your very own e-mail address, then crap your pants. It's time to worry.

It is entirely possible that they just don't understand though. I had an aspie friend irl that we had to go through and point out all of the boundaries to him.

This has occurred to me, which is why I have not been overly harsh about it and why I mentioned in the thread I posted in the Adult Autism section that they might not know what is and isn't appropriate. But then it seems (some of) the men who have responded don't care that many of us find it inappropriate. So it's not simple ignorance on their part.

But, when you tell them to back off, too often the response is, 'It is irrational for you to be creeped out by my message. Therefore, I will keep sending them.'

How about you send them a sarcastic response back? You know be funny than answering their questions seriously. Have some fun with them.

That's highly inappropriate, I would ignore the PM, and report the message as abuse and the user to authorities (of this website).

I have yet to receive a creepy pm, but I wish we had a block feature in general. Not being able to block certain members sort of spoils what this could be for me. I am going to look at this as my chance to learn some boundaries and simply not respond from now on. When people ask me questions I always feel like I should answer them even if I don't feel comfortable answering. If someone addresses me it's the same thing, on a forum or in a pm makes no difference. It's like I'm compelled to respond and feel badly for not responding even if the person addressing me has pissed me off or been markedly rude or psycho.

Is this a common thing in ASD?

If it's only women with actual photos getting these creepy PMs I'd suggest changing your profile pic and also reporting the PMs. I chose a highly sexualised avatar as you can see. My trophy girl is hawt.

Indeed it is.

I've gotten three "creepy" pm's since joining, all from people claiming to be women. Definitely trolls..."hello dearest, email me and exchange pictures..."
If any of you get a pm from queenlove, don't bother opening it, just hit delete.

I almost look like that in real life, too, but I'd never be caught dead wearing pink.

I do think there is something to the avatar thing. Sexually frustrated, hormonal men who are socially awkward + pretty girls pictures isn't a real recipe for not being objectified. Yes yes it's WRONG that we're objectified by men, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen constantly. I have considered putting a photo of myself up here but nah. I'll stay ominous. If I get to know people we can exchange pictures to "put a face to the name" later via email or something. ;)

JusSumBudi, shadowchyld and everybody else in this situation, please report the users doing it. We take these things very seriously and there are severe consequences for such behaviour. But there's nothing we can do if we never find out about it. You can be of service especially if it's a spammer, reporting them means they won't pester other members or you again.

So again, please report or forward them to any of us or ask for help here http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt142813.html I am appalled to hear so many of you have this problem and didn't ask for help.

Most of the time they're harmless but every now and then you get some real life nutters on WP who would hurt you if they could so imo - report it if it really upsets you. Don't take chances.
