Smile in photos?

I was better at it when i was younger but then I was bullied... now I have a "picture day" kind of smile when photos are taken.
Customers often tell me I have a rude face. Most customers are rude though so if I have a nlank face, they're going to project their emotions onto me like childen with teddy bears.

I never smile in photos. At first it never occurred to me to smile. I was then told to smile, and I attempted to. It was so bad my parents didn't buy school photos for a few years.

I have ruined more pictures than I can remember by giving in to the admonition to smile!

Yeah, mine with the no smile always look better. When I smile it seems too forced and you can tell. Here's an example:

I guess I'm the odd ball here. I smile in ALL photos. I don't even think twice about it. A camera comes out and I automatically put a smile on. Even looking back at photos of me as a one year old, I was smiling in photos!

Mostly my younger photos are of puzzled me looking at the photographer and trying to figure out why he/she is acting goofy. (I clearly remember pondering this at the time.)

I do smile naturally, in other words, when somebody is holding up a camera I don't have to be told to smile, I just think ''OK, now's the time to smile to the camera''. Often I don't want to though because I always pull a stupid face as I do so. Also I am no good at posing, I end up looking stooped when I see the picture.

I have a lot of baby pictures of me smiling naturally though.

Oh the big fake "say cheese" smiles. No, AS people don't do that BS.

Has anyone ever noticed, if you look at old photos taken before the 1940s, that people didn't do those stupid fake smiles then? When they took photos in those days, they would look very serious and dignified. Not like a bunch of ret*d fools.

I simply cannot smile showing my teeth. I can try, but I've been told that it comes across as a "pained grimace" or like I'm snarling or something. It just doesn't feel natural, or a proper expression of happiness. My whole life, I have been told to "show my teeth" when I smile, but I just can't. I often wonder if there is some sort of abnormality in my facial muscles, because it just doesn't happen.

I can fake a close-mouthed smile, but whenever I see it in pictures, it just looks creepy/weird to me.

That, and I think of aggressive animals when people smile really wide with their teeth showing. Why would I want to look like a growling or threatening animal? Humans and culture are so weird...

I only smile in photos if im told to do so and even then its a closed mouth smile

I force myself to smile in all pictures. Yes, there are many times when I feel like smiling, but there are others when I don't. It's one of those things that I've "trained" myself to do, even though it's against my instincts much of the time. I think it comes from my mum always getting after my dad and I for not smiling or not smiling "correctly."

Depends. I smile in most of my photos but you can usually tell when I'm trying to force one on.

am not able to understand the concept of what smiling is, and also do not understand the concept behind changing looks [such as standing in a pose] for a camera,will never ever understand this one.
some times will look at people and wonder why the hell am being pointed at with the camera, other times people try to get shots whene am focused on something like hugging the chickens,sometimes am restraint held whilst people try to get a close photo-they soon find that doesnt go down well for them.

I have seen baby pics of me smiling but many pics of me when I was around three to five or so I noticed I rarely smiled. I had that blank stare thing going on a lot.
