To keep this to the point, (ironically), I have been told that I cannot summarize and have heard that this is associated with ASD. I've also been told about monologues as a symptom, but my therapist says that it is NTs who ramble.

Is this standard knowledge? I am quite confused.

Yes, these are symptoms, definitely. There are ways to overcome it. I personally don't speak more than 3 sentences at a time when in a conversation, to avoid rambling, especially with strangers. Also when writing exams, I look at time allocation and points, and only fill in the necessary amount of answers or spend the allocated time per question answering. Hope this helps.
