Does anybody else suffer with migraines?

I was in my early 20s when it started. I had to change my birth control pills to one compatible with continuous use to prevent my periods and also I've been doing preventive treatment with nortriptiline for the last year, 'cause the problem was getting worse. It's manageable now, but I still have crisis almost every week. (Had them for 2-3 weeks straight when I had my periods: one week before, the period week and one week later. Terrible, really!)

Over the last five years I've learned what triggers the crisis, besides my hormones... I can't smoke or be around any kind of smoke (including car smoke) for too long. I get it sometimes when I drink alcohol (I'm not talking about hangovers... I get the migraine while I'm still drinking, and sometimes I'm not even drunk yet!). I also get it whenever I can't sleep enough at night or spend to many hours without eating, and when I get overloaded at work.
I was pretty addicted to Coca-Cola my whole life, to the point that if it was a holiday, the stores where all closed and my refrigerator was empty, I panicked... Because I had a crisis every time I spent a hole DAY without it! :?
I had to go through an abstinence period of Coca-Cola... Now I only drink it once in a while.

Yes, I get these headaches I have always called "right-sided headaches", and my doctor recently confirmed that those are in fact migraines.

It's like you could draw a line right around my head, dead centre, and the left side will be fine, and the right side will be throbbing pain. Once I feel one start it develops into badness pretty quickly. It'll go from the back of my head just above my neck, on the right, over the top of my head, and sometimes right down into my cheekbone.

Advil usually works but sometimes even 2 doesn't help. My doctor wanted to give me a sample of some type of 'triptan' med for it to try, but his office was out, they'll contact me when they get some in. I hate to have to resort to drugs for this, but I can't suffer with these bad headaches either - I just lie down in my room with no noise & no light.

I can't figure out what triggers them. It's not stress as I've had extremely stressful days and I was fine head-wise, but I've gotten bad ones just being at home doing nothing. I've even woken up with them, and the previous day had not been stressful, so who knows :(

There have been a few threads about migraines. I have this one tagged:
