Hello everyone,

Ever since I was a young boy I loved things that sparkle or stood out someway. I collected things. I can remember when I was 5 or 6 and on holiday in Greece that I found a small blue lightbulb thingy on the beach. I was ''madly in love'' with this object for some reason. I can't remember if I was restless back then but ever since I was a teen (I'm 21 y/o now) I felt restless. I was always touching my collected objects and putting them in my pockets. I used to have each other favorite one for a month or so. That would mean that I was calm. It calmed me down. Made me forget my restlessness. But slowly the months turned into weeks. And those into days. You catch my drift. Sometimes even after I put this thing of mine (sometimes a coin or something) in my pocket I would be calm for a second or so but then my mind would start to question if it was the right move. So I take it out of i'd find something else. (bad for my wallet as well. I bought so many things...)(no money spending problem though:) ) Anyway now I seems that not much can calm me down anymore. I used to be standing in front of my shelves just touching and looking at everything for hours. I drove/drives me crazy.
I like vintage things so I could say to myself just think of the word ''vintage'' and leave all you objects at home but that was no option.

I'm wondering If anyone of you sometimes feels like this. Don't get my wrong it's not every second of every minute but sometimes a week. If I'm lucky a month it doesn't happen but after that 2 times a week. Very uncontrollable.
I'm diagnosed with PDD-NOS.

Sincerely,

Thijs

I can only think of one way you can get some rest and relax. Either grab a phone directory or hit Google and see if there is a local Buddhist center, all of them do meditation classes that work wonders on a mind that can't relax.

Oh yeah, for all of you that think this answer is a bit weird, don't knock it until you've tried it 8)

I sometimes get ridiculously anxious when I add salt to food, or don't get enough vitamin D. Try some cod liver oil.

A storm in your head! It sounds almost OCD gone out of control. I´d tell the psych and ask if you could have something for it, maybe some ADHD med. - not eternally, but for a period, just to break the spiral and find some other calming things to do - such as meditation as proposed before.
