One thing I struggle with is the wire in the back of it, properly wrapping it around the right way. I'm generally very sensitive to loud noises too and that is a defining characteristic of vacuums. Another thing is when I plug it into an outlet, but the distance of the outlet makes it difficult to maneuver. I'm a big klutz so the tripping thing comes into play.

You may benefit from using a cordless vacuum.

I'd like to nominate the term "duskfilly". :)
Anyway, I like to consider interpretations for dreams. I think yours could be taken as a sign that you may be worrying too much about small things that ultimately will resolve themselves. If so... relax. 8)

Does anyone else have severe problems with vacuum cleaners? I seem to end up tripping, getting them stuck, the hose tangled and end up having a melt down. PLUS the noise drives me up the wall! I’ve never come across this being an Aspie problem and was wondering if others have the same issue?

BTW, who won?

After using an 'Ultra Light' upright vacuum, I don't miss the older cumbersome vacuums at all!

There are some cordless vacuum cleaners that work well, but they won't be cheap. I had occasion to test several dustbusters and car vacuums, and their suction was about equal to a badly clogged plug-in unit. The new cyclone separators are a great advance, reducing the filter area needed. I look for a filter that is easy to clean, instead of buying disposable bags.

I don't miss the cordless vacuum cleaners (as their batteries too often need recharging), and the cordless vacuum cleaners are not ad powerful as their plug-in counterparts - on account of battery power. I feel that the cord with a plug-in 'Ultra-Light' vacuum is not an issue.

I don't like the noise but I an use one just fine.

Of course the one I have is rather small, I might have a bit more trouble with a bulkier one. I also purposely got one that doesn't use a bag..just has a plastic chamber you can remove and dump in the trash, and there is a filter I have to take out from time to time to rinse.

I've had a lot of fights with inanimate objects, vacuums included. We've had a couple from 'high-end' brands that seemed to have gratuitous differences from normal ones, and I'd have trouble figuring out how to get the tipping hinge-thing to unlock, or get the extensions attached, or whatever, and the frustration would have me spitting with anger in short order.
