My self care tends to get ignored more if I am caught up in some new obsessions that I can't drag myself away from

I can handle my own self-care, but I'm dependent on my mom to keep me on a schedule, be it hygiene or taking me places or preparing proper meals.

This is just part of a larger amount of problems called adaptive skills. How many of these do you all have?

I honestly struggle with all of that.

I also struggle with each of those, but in different ways and to different degrees.

Sorry if this is gross but I rarely shower. Maybe once or twice a week. Good thing I don't really smell (my mom would probably tell me if otherwise). Also, my hair never really gets oily.
It's actually not healthy to shower every day unless you absolutely need to. Once or twice a week is actually fine if you don't get disgusting.

I take care of my own needs fairly well now and have an established morning and afternoon routine, but I'm not one to put on a lot of makeup, except for lipstick. I hate face makeup. It makes me feel claustrophobic, like I'm wearing a mask.

I used to see some girls and young women use so much lip gloss that they were practically eating the stuff. That drove me nuts!

Gosh I can relate to this topic big time. As fighting aganist time and not getting sidetracked is a huge problem in my life. I have trouble doing things. Like it took me a while to shower every day and comb my hair afterwards and things like wearing deodorant foriegn concept. I used to let my beard grow till I looked like a wild man but then I loved the way I looked when I shaved so I kept it off and shave everyday now. I started doing all this because it made me feel better and more acceptable.because if I want to be around people I got to do the things that people want to be around. One of those is not smelling nasty.
I still struggling with weekly laundry and time gets away from me all the time. Like I can start playing with my phone in the moring and still be playing with at seven a clock at night without leaving the house and have frantically find a food place to go eat before the stores closed. This even happens when I want to go some place I get so sucked in to my phone I will miss the bus I need to go where I want to go. So I will end up sitting at home playing on the phone

@Allbymyself, friendly teasing: I'm sorry, is laundry supposed to be done weekly? 8O

What is your limiting factor? I have at least 30 pairs of underwear so at over a month if I really want my most favorite shirt, then I have to do laundry.

My adaptive functioning skills were measured at 60, with a mean score of 100, just like an IQ test. I'm in the bottom 1% for adaptive functioning ability compared to most people my age. Contrast that with my IQ, which at 121, is in the 94th percentile. This gap in skills gets incredibly frustrating at times.

I don’t know my adaptive skills score percentile but they were all low with age 5 equivalent on the highest skill and below age 2 on the lowest.
