Here's a mantra that helps me when I get that way: "Courage is not the absence of fear, it's the willingness to face that fear." And I learned that from a Batman comic, so that doesn't preclude action figures.

You are very correct Spaceplayer! I am actually writting a book and the effects of fear on the behavior of Autistic/Aspergers. I have been researching the subject in great depth (see Aspie special interest/obsesion LOL) and have found that the chemistry of the brain and also physiology of the brain is greatly affected and even altered when the instinctive reaction of fear turns on the adrenaline production and that production affects the levels of testosterone in the body and brain.
As the Aspie brain and body is greatly sensitive to the level of adrenaline and thus also testosterone, fear has a much greater effect on us than on NTs.
The funny thing is that we are MORE afraid of fear than we are of what CAUSES the fear. Our brain takes things apart and we focus on details so instead of seeing the big picture when it comes to fearful situation, we analyze it, break it down in components and think that it is the components that CAUSED the fear instead of realizing that it is a reaction that was 'built in' our brain and body to protect us!
Yes, fear is the way nature make sure we all (all species) have a safety net. If you want to know more details, buy my book when it becomes available!
