I'm sure they do it when they are alone right? Saying stuff like "oh s***!" and "aw man" and stuff like that doesn't count. I mean talking to themselves like they are writing an online blog.

I doubt it, but the prospect of such is funny.

I suspect everyone talks to themselves.
And those that don't... lie to themselves.

It's only when you start talking back... or worse arguing with yourself that it becomes an issue...
And that's something I don't do....

Yes I do.
No I don't
Yes I do!
No I bloo'y well do NOT!! !
Go shove it Exc, you do so!

I used to kind of talk to myself in an accent that wasn't my own.

Well, really, I was narrating out loud what I was doing while playing the Sims.

But I used a british accent to do it.

Just in the answer to the initial question - do NTs talk to themselves - well just like one can't overgeneralise with people with autism, one can't with NTs BUT as an NT myself - I talk to myself ALL the time! I go over things, I rehearse conversations, etc. I'm sure I',m not alone? I think perhaps the difference may be that I'm aware of this, and I only do this when I'm alone.

there is nothing wrong with this and I'm sure I have come to a great deal of my solutions through conversations with myself!!

I am NT and I sure as heck do!
I even have "fantasy conversations" in my mind where I am arguing with people. I think it is common among intelligent people (IQ 152 here). Other smart people I have talked to have said the same thing.

Na... sorry "bloo'y" is a word that i use sometimes in that accent for emphasis...
One of those "coping mechanisms" that i've developed over time to compensate for not normally inflecting my words the same way as others.

And... I ain't no bloo'y scott! I'm a frog/wasp mongrel! :o

Wait, are we talking about in our heads or out in the open?

I always 'talk to myself' in my head. I figured it was normal.

I'm NT and I do a lot. I sometimes get teased about it at work because I'll be chattering away to myself at the workstation. A coworker will say, "Janissy, it sounds like you're losing that argument with yourself  ". I do have to be careful to keep a lid on it at times. It's ok at work because they know me but I make sure not to do it when I'm around people I don't know.

We had a guy come in to fix a machine once who seemed normal to us. I was working in the metal finishing room when a co-worker ran in the room grabbed me by the arm and said you got to see this. He pulled me to the breakeoom door's window the repairman for the machine was talking away to himself. I said he had a bluetooth or something so they went to the machine he was fixing to see if he had his cell phone with him and it was sitting next to his tool box. The NT's made a big deal about it to the point they had to show everyone how weird this guy was including me in the farthest reaches of the machine shop. They want conformation that this guy was nuts they figured that I would spot something because I always discover little things or overlooked stuff. We worked with this repairman for years and everyone was shocked to see this guy talking to himself. :?

I am NT, as far as I know, and I talk to myself all the time, before I had kids and started staying home, my coworkers would rarely respond to me because I talked to myself so much, usually mumbling under my breath as I was studying a slide under the microscope, or filling prescriptions (I was a veterinary assistant). My husband and kids all wonder about me a lot of the time with the way I talk to myself at home too. I have never thought it strange that people talk to themselves, both of my parents have always done it.
