I am speaking mainly to adults here (people 18+, of drinking age). I got drunk and partied for several years, but eventually decided/realized I couldn't control my drinking, or how I acted when I was drunk. I guess getting drunk doesn't improve AS. Anyways, I have been totally sober for over a year now (I am 23), but I am wondering if I should just go back to getting drunk, and try to control it. I don't think I will do it (I know it's a bad idea for me), but I get so f*****g lonely not being out on a friday/saturday night with most people my age. Anyone here regularly get drunk?

It depends what you mean by "getting drunk" I suppose.

Stay the hell away from alcohol!

I have quit several times, but always fell back because of that same little justifying argument as yours. It was one of my few ways to socialize. The problem is that when you have a few drinks at friday, its easier to have a few at saturday too. And then you keep going. When you drink again, you will be reminded of all the good things you associate with it and you'll want to do it more. Considering that your drinking went out of control I assume that you have an addictive personality, and this will make it nearly impossible to keep a healthy frequence if you get the "taste for it".

From personal experience, I'd say keep away from it.
Before, I used to struggle to quit. Now I still struggle with quitting, but this time FOR GOOD.

I just get hammered. Every other night I wake up naked in a snow drift.

School actually got threw to me on something! Health class too! After being told not to drink my whole life I've made it up in my mind to never drink.

Never. Which means I dont drive because Ken suggests that people who drink will end up driving so, logically, people who don't drink don't drive

Thanks for the advice. You're one of the only people here who knows where I'm coming from, I remember you posting before about using heroin. I struggled to quit morphine for a few years, and then ended up using alcohol to replace it. You just may have kept me sober with your post, thanks :)

I never drunk before I the age of 16. Then for a short while I got drunk every week. Nowadays I DRINK every week but don't always get DRUNK.

Personally, I DO think it helps, rather than hinders, my social skills, simply because after a couple of pints I feel a lot more confident around new people and I'm more likely to go and talk to someone new.

I'm just messing with Ken, but he kept implying that people who are high and drunk crash cars so that means they all drive cars in order to crash them. (Basically, he was trying to explain that people who smoke/drink and THEN drive have a higher chance of crashing but that act is illegal, anyways, so).

I never was into alcohol. It's effects on me are just dizziness. It doesn't make me forget troubles or anything, it just makes kind of dizzy. When I went out with NT acquaintances I used to get drunk, but only out of simpathy, because I thought that's the thing to do. Next morning I had to vomit and it really isn't fun. Hell, you don't even get funny halluzinations or something. And it has no effect whatsoever on my mood.
Alcohol tastes bitter and is not worth the trouble.

When i was single, I got drunk almost every night, 3-5 a week. I would wake up and I had to think to remember who I brought home and what I had done, where I had been. I live in a small town, so it was all within walking distance.
