Thread talks about generalizing us ALL, everyone with AS.

This was said in the "Marijuana" thread. Notice how one thread discusses errornous information/generalizing and, here, someone is generalizing "NT" peoples? Even better is that its all contained within a thread generalizing "Marijuana users" as "psychos" or "impaired drivers" or "lazy people" or "unmotivated" people or "insert convenient stereotype here because its fun."

Now, what can be said about all this? Well, for one thing, NT people aren't a problem, its everyone being wreckless with their opinions/thoughts. How, on earth, can a thread discussing being "labeled incorrectly" coincide, on the same page, with another thread "labeling people incorrectly?"

This isn't something new. Its quite disgusting to see, actually, that so many hate being generalized, yet, given the slightest chance, they jump on another group of people.

Why is that? Why do some of us here hate generalizing, yet, do it themselves so wrecklessly? Again, this isn't anything new and its almost a daily thing and I want to know why people feel the need to constantly generalize while hate being generalized themselves.

Answer the question, Ken. Dont make this personal then cry, afterwards, that people don't understand you.

Why do you, Ken, Generalize so much? Is there some form of satisfaction you gain?

I would think that people would be able to realize in threads that basic randomization is pretty common in writing. Otherwise who would want to read a long disclaimer every time someone wanted to make a comment. When it comes to such things as race or gender or disability then it depends on the context - are people making the comment to specifically say that those who are in this group have limited capabilities. Then it is something to be corrected. Most people would realize that no one is talking about every single person - unless they are specifically doing so in propaganda.

And once again, as someone else on here pointed out before - power relationships are being conveniently ignored. It is a much bigger deal when a majority who has the power to repress the minority (and is doing through labeling and medicating and denying of rights) generalizes then it is when some members of the minority point out when that is occurring. Especially considering how people with differences from the majority have been treated in the past.

Unknown is a 14 year old kid I would not get yourself worked up over his thoughts on pot use.

Plus I would not waste time trying to change the thoughts of people on pot here. I'm pretty sure I have had the debate of rx drugs with you in which you seemed to suggest meditation was the better than medication. So your likely guilty of the same thing you accuse the anti-pot crowd of(not being objective).

I used him merely as an example. One thing is for certain, whether its here, at my work, or other websites, "Blame" is the name of the game and everyone is eager to blame something/someone else OTHER then themselves. This is something I'm getting EXTREMELY fed up over.

And you're right, medication may help just super, but I said it could be done without it. Did I say anything about how the drugs DON'T WORK? As well, meditation corrects the problem from the source, medication just helps the problem after its started - that was my position on it.

I understand, but when called out on it and nothing changes and one "stands by their word" then what do we have?

This is the thread. Your same logic that makes mediation superiour to medication should make mediation superiour to pot. Your trying to give pot special exemption
because you use it. I tried to make the same claims about medications being usefull for depression and ADHD and I was beat down by everbody in that thread.

Special exemption? I smoke it because I like it, overall. That is the underlining reason. Does it help me? Yes, it helps focus "internally." Whats better, pot or meditation? Well, meditation, I'd say, has provided me the most benefit.

Another point I have about meditation over medication is that many do not know its an option.

My point with Pot is that everyone thinks its going to kill you or make you go psycho. The erronous information extends outward from there. THIS is my point. I've never said its "healthy" or the "end" to anything, but, merely that people who use it aren't ALL that bad people yet, somehow, they all get grouped into their stereotype. I let everyone else circulate all the bad/negative stuff and feel no need to say it for the 9000 time.

Again I can say the same for Prozac but you were no where defending my use of it.

You mentioned how people do not want to take blame for their own actions. Is not your concern for this issue your own actions? And their would be no blame if you did not care?

I just don't like it when one person singles out another member by name publically stating such in something other than the origionating thread, and places him in front of "the group" for inspection. The ethics of such, makes me uncomfortable. Are you thinking clearly about this>?

The delete is only a button away....

If you're refering to "unknown," he was merely an example and nothing more. This isn't about him but the issue at hand. I'll remove the "name" though, all the information is there for everyone to look at.

Yes and no. While, if I smoke pot (as was the topic), I can not "legally" because of "views" in society, even as errornous as they are. This is why I care. I care deeply about personal rights/freedoms and am suffering because of a few. I hope I answered correctly

I have seen many of what was mentioned above. My only confusion is why the pot thread is continuing as it is.
