As they say, it's a spectrum.
I was clueless when it came to women, and only became competent at dating after researching flirting, social dynamics, and the psychology of sex and attraction. I've had special interests since early childhood - my latest is the science and economics of the oil and gas industry (I think WTI will drop below $50, and we aren't likely to see $80 again for years). I'm pathologically truthful, and extremely sensitive to other people's physical (and basic emotional) pain. I'm almost oblivious to people's social emotion problems, and don't feel social emotions like shame in any tangible way.
I don't really care if I offend people (they choose if they take offense to my behavior). My only problem with being an Aspie with ADHD was my temper and low frustration tolerance. Divorcing a borderline wife and getting a new one that affectionately calls me her Sheldon has removed enough stress in my life so that I've not lost my temper in a couple years now.
As I've said in another post, I'm a proud Aspie. To me, NT is the negative label, not Aspie.
