Do Aspies have an unusually large number of recurring (or non-recurring) dreams and nightmares? I dream like crazy, but my non-Aspie friends hardly remember their dreams and claim they don't dream much. My nightmares used to be very physically exhausting, but I started taking sub-lingual vitamin B-12 (1000 mg) every day, and my nightmares have diminished greatly! Hope it works for others.

Hows your memory in the waking hours?
I'm having a lot of nightmares and related things which my DR says are probably post traumatic reactions to an AS issue last year. I was away at school and the teachers did'nt teach and the students did'nt maintain a professional atmosphere. Also one of the instructors used racial slurs during demonstration time.
I did not go with the flow I reported them and I lived in Hell for 12 monthes because of it.
My dreams have been very vivid since I quit taking ANti depressants for the first time in 15 years.
Thank you for the vitamin information!

I seem to remember dreams better than things that go on during the day. I still remember dreams perfectly that happened when I was a little kid. Back then they were more graphic as well, not really in a violent way, they just seemed fascinating and more profound. Nowadays they are much more simple, and less frequent, which sucks in my opinion. What happened??

I hardly remember my dreams these days. It may be a side effect of antidepressant medication or maybe just getting older. I used to have some very freaky dreams many years ago.

Oh yes. When I was like 6 years old I had this really scary dream about the laundry room in my parents basement. It was sort of like the evil furnace from "Home Alone". Anyways, the dryer was making a thumping sound like they do when they become unbalanced. I walked into the basement and it was full of billowing steam and then there was a deep scary voice that said "freezing hefalumps". Hefalumps are little purple elephants from Winnie the Poo but don’t ask what a “freezing hefalump” is. Seriously I have no clue. The nightmares when I was a kid were so random and wacked.

I hardly remember my dreams/nightmares. The ones I do are just extremely weird. Neither upsetting or uplifting or whatever you would consider the opposite emotion. Just confusing.

I seem to remember more of my dreams than my NT friends, and also in a lot more detail.
I'm lucky that I don't have too many nightmares.
I have livid dreams sometimes though which can be very disorientating and quite tiring.

I take the Jungian view.

Dreams are symbolic messages from the sub-conscious.

Do dreams of colossal buildings and landscapes represent the vastness of my psyche, or the diminutive nature of my perspective?

The building you dream of typically represents your mind, your consciousness. If it's in a state of disrepair it means you've got some work to do on yourself. Monks who achieve a high state of consciousness often dream of living in the penthouse.

Nightmares indicate that something is terribly wrong. Animals, especially magical animals, have a message for you. If B-12 is working for you, keep doing it.

My dreams often are nonsensical to the point where I can't even describe what they were about after I wake up. I often hear a lot of NTs describe their dreams and they are somewhat coherent. Mine are hardly ever coherent. I would be embarrassed to tell what my dreams are because they are so weird and random. Does this mean my subconscious is nonsensical?

I find my dreams and even some nightmares, to be very entertaining. They are often vivid and stay with me through out the day. Many times when I am drifting off to sleep,I will see images from the previous nights dream, even though I had forgotten it during the day.Sometimes,my dreams have been so much more interesting then my waking time, that I just want to go back to sleep.Sometimes I do "art" or invent something in my dreams and really get frustrated that I cant remember all the details when I wake up.I feel like I'm missing out on a potential resource.I recently bought a digital recorder to talk into when I wake up so that I can recall my dreams without waking all the way and losing it to "the light of day".

I wonder of "dream life" is a real place. It seems like I am visiting real places in them.So much detail.

Maybe "disorganized" would be a better description. How's your life, your home? Are they disorganized? If so, maybe getting organized would be a good thing to work on

They aren't really disorganized. They are just impossible to describe without sounding silly and seem to have no significant meaning. Like last night I dreamed that I had to push a box into a square hole in the gound and walk across it. Another time I dreamed that I could hold this kite above my head and it allowed me to jump 100 feet into the air. It was like when I was holding the kite gravity was reduced so I could bound really high into the air. It was so fun that I was extremely disappointed when I woke up. My dreams are all like that.
