Do you have an embarrasing obsession?

Do you have an obsession that you would consider embarrasing? Right now, I'm really obsessed with Pokémon and I really don't want anyone to know about it at my age. I've gotten the urge to buy DVDs, toys, books, and everything, but I just can't do it in public. I've decided to get my fix online. How about you?

I had a brief Gundam obsession in about 2000, I think that's about it. Not embarassing in the same way, but I did have a bit of an obsession with nuclear weapons, tactics and doctrine (which I quickly figured out was an easy way to freak people out so I tried to be quiet about it) when I was in my early teens, too.

I was always a little wary of mentioning my major obsession with Serial killers... + Harry Potter + Disney. Disney was a major obsession for me between the ages of 14 and 19.

I'm not embarrassed by it, but I'm sure people would laugh at my interest in Roger Bannister. I'm an almost 43 year old American woman who never ran a competitive race in her life. I was always the last person to finish in every school race. People would also look at me and say, "Roger who?"

I'm very wary about quantifying my interest in politics and history for what it really is: an interest in dictatorship.

serial killers, transexuals/transgender (MtF) and gay blogs. i like reading about how their minds work, they're so far from what is fathomable (to me). 'normal' people frustrate, but don't fascinate me.

It's funny, I've spent so much of my life repressing every non-NT thought and urge I had that I have actually forgotten bits of me.

I thought my love of cats was an odd obsession. Everyone teased me for it because I really was quite obsessed. Toy cats, cat books and magazines, cat posters, you name it! Not so much anymore, but I still love cats.

used to be obsessed with how to put myself into a coma-- but not actually dead, but on life support, but could not figure out a way to do it that was sure to have that outcome and not that of more technical suicide

also i get obsessed with beautiful women, which i can't talk about without people assuming i have sexual preferences that i don't-- but i am kind of in love with lead singers-- jessicka from jack off jill, and brody armstrong from the distillers, and so on. but i don't really connect it to anything. i just love pictures of them, but i don't sexually fantasize about them or anything... they are just so beautiful and sexy, and guys are not. guys are just boring.

also i wish i could turn into a cat all the time, so people would like me, and not want too much, but would pet me, but also think it cute if i was bratty.

I've always had a thing for books and when I was about 7 read a Jean Plaidy book that hooked me first on QE1, before branching out to another Jean Plaidy book that hooked me up with Mary Stuart, from there I was obsessed with Tudor England, Mary Stuart, British monarchs and historical royalty in general. Although other obsessions come and go this one seems permanent. It's not really embarrassing in itself, but the fact that sometimes I just cannot shut the heck up about it, combined with everyone else's complete disinterest can be.

But since I was 7 I've had a bad habit of biting/chewing the lining of my inner cheek. Whether that's Aspie or not, I don't know... but it sure makes people look at me funny when I'm caught in the act.

Cat obsession is not weird! I'm a cat person myself, and collect everything cat-related that you mentioned. I have had cats since I was born. My parents had their first cat before they had me.

Do you have any special breed preference? I tend to collect Siamese related items. I especially love Lynx (tabby) points because their coat pattern is so beautiful.

My obsession? well, it might not be what it used to be but I still collect them.

Light emitting diodes (LEDs), i have hundreds of the things and would probably have thousands if I could afford it (im still a kid, so i only get what my parents allow)

I have UV 395nm Diodes, infrared 920nm diodes, over 50 high brightness blue ones, a 30,000 mcd (milli candela) green one and hundreds of standard brightness red ones (but they don't really count, they suck)

I noticed that my interest in these things is mostly weighted towards either end of the spectrum, I prefer the ultraviolet and infrared ones much more than visible light emitters.

Eventually this built into an interest in electronics, which is how this obsession still manifests itself today.

I started listening to Rage against the machine and hated them at first but after a while it became a habit, unfortunately most people don't like this.
