My eyes are the reason i don't like being in photos. Yeah, i noticed that some years ago, when i have seen a photo of Temple Grandin online and i've though 'Wow, in photos i come in the same way!' and i've seen a lot of photos of people on the spectrum that had my same expression.
Some days ago i took a picture about myself when i was looking in DA and my eyes looked like distant. In most of pictures of me i have blank stare.
Today i have been able with some effort to take a picture with more expressive eyes.

Anyway don't mistake behaviour with facial features.

Is there something different about an aspie's eyes? I'm not talking about eye contact. Even when they're looking away, I can't help but feel there's something different about the way an aspie's eyes look. I think I've noticed it in some people's avatars on here too...Maybe I'm imagining it, but could it be because we all look at things differently? I've noticed it in myself too when I see videos or pictures of myself. Has anyone else noticed this?

people often say my eyes are very "stern" or look "angry" and that my face is very serious. Not sure if thats due to my aspergers, but it could be.

Every time I look at myself (before I realize that I'm doing it) I can't believe how weird I look. It appears as if I'm not all there and completely oblivious to my surroundings. The strange thing is that as soon as I recognize my reflection I go into what I call NT emulation mode, and then I temporarily look like a normal person.

I think it does have a lot to do with the fact that it reflects my true emotion. I usually have a lack of expression because I usually don't feel any emotional expression inside me.

I just don't understand how I can tell that there's something different about my eyes, but when I look at other people's eyes I don't see anything in them.

I'm full of emotions all the time, which is probably why I don't always pull blank faces as such. I look irritated or nervous a lot, but that's because I feel irritated or nervous. If I just relaxed a little, I think my face will look more relaxed.

Hi all

was just browsing the threads and started reading about the eye discussion. i often think theres something weird about my eyes. if i see myself on video or a photo. cant quite put my finger on it, but id had the idea that aspie types in general had something unusual about their eyes. again, its more perhaps a "way" of looking...and that spaced out overload that can happen (it does to me anyway)

perhaps eyes have a greater significance to me because im so terribly bad at making any sort of eye contact. (its way too intense). so i guess i logically then would develop a bit of a thing about eyes in general.

anyhows. thats my 5 potatoes worth on the matter lol

great thread

i've had comments about how serious my eyes are and i've had comments on how i look like im staring at people but at the same time staring through them or like i'm in this world but at the same time not really there. i don't know if this is a vibe people get or if it is affected by the way my eyes look. no one has ever said stoned...

your countenance seems to be saying "yeah mac, what's YOUR excuse?" as you're giving somebody the shove.

I think that an autistic looking out of the corners of his eyes is something like seeing in 4 dimensions. Looking at things in different perspectives to achieve one composite hyperspace view.

yeah, i surely relate to that.
as a kid, i was always accused of not paying attention to teachers, and my parents or wherever i happen to be keep asking me if i'm happy or enjoying myself, this might very well be part of the 'stare'

also, a few months ago, i went to some kind of 'find yourself and deal with it' class offered by my high school, and it ended with everyone having to write down a main characteristic/impression about the other participants on a post-it and post it on their backs, to read after that part was over;
even though i didn't really interact with a lot of others even there (i kept to the little group i was auto-paired in with the first assignment), but all comments were among the lines of "you go deep", "you are probarbly the smartest in the room". "there is something about you" and one or two being something of "anyone home?"
as this is apperantly the first impression i give (most were indeed first impressions, based on looks only), this does say something...

your eyes point in different directions.

this isn't the odd thing. the odd thing is i did not notice this at first and couldn't think of anything unusual about your gaze at all.

i'm unable to look at both eyes at once and when i do manage to look in anyone's eyes i see only the one on my left, their right eye, and this is what i did also when looking at your picture. so people who look at both might be a bit confused.

i always wondered what things would look like if i could simultaneously make my left eye look far left and my right eye look far-right?
