i've seen only one AMC in the last two decades as well.

toyota tacomas are amazing machines. my dad bought one new in 2004, loved it, then totaled it in 2006 (he was fine). loved it so much he bought another one immediately afterwards and has never even looked at another car since then. it just keeps going and going with minimal maintenance. it has just surpassed my own 1999 lexus's mileage at 156000.

my aunt bought one new in 2004 as well...that thing has 350,000 miles and shows no sign of stopping, racking up all those miles on that scenic coastal stretch of the 101 between oxnard and santa barbara CA.

uncle has been beating the s**t out of his own single cab model since 2002, 200000+ miles and it won't quit either.

now that i think about it, it seems like half of the people on my mom's side who drive chose tacomas (there are many more)

only hondas and toyotas in my family as well. [with the exception of my dad's string of benzes]

Before my 2016 Toyota Tacoma I had a 2001 Tacoma single cab, and it was still in great shape when I sold it at 300,000 miles. The engine was in such great shape the oil would still be honey colored at every oil change.

I would have kept it but I didn’t have space for two Tacomas.

I really love cars and they were one of my first special interests as a toddler. I could identify any make, model, and year as a kid and am still decent at it. I have a license and hope to buy my own car someday soon. My family thinks it's odd since I don't have kids or anything large to transport (aside from maybe my dogs) but I really want a Toyota Sienna minivan with AWD (I live in the Northeast US and we get a lot of bad weather and snow). when it comes to sports cars, I really love Chevy Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds and anything Mopar.

I used to know where a convertible AMC Pacer was sitting out in a field in rural Kansas. I do not know if it was factory or a custom done for the owner. It was not something I was interested in restoring, yet stood out as a strange car. It has been a decade since I saw it last, so it may still be there. I do know where a Pacer coupe is sitting, but it looks rough to say the least. Parts for them are hard to find.

When I was going to college as an undergrad, there was a large junkyard that I frequented often. They had a whole section that was specific to AMC cars. Most of them were Javelins, including one SST model (rough as a cob). I spent most of my time with the Mopars and the Fords. They did crush a complete 1966 GTO 389, 4-speed hardtop and a 1967 Mustang 390 fastback shell during that time. I never thought that they would crush those, but the owner wanted some cash flow when the parts selling was slow. I would have been interested in the Mustang, but needed a place to store it and I already had too many car projects to play with. I could have bought it for about $300 back then. It would easily sell for $15,000+ now, even as a bare shell.

a pity that people just throw cars away.

I took Mitsi through a few floods today. Nothing deeper then about a foot and a half to two feet max. In places the road on a downhill gradient was a stream/river. It was exciting!

No.. All is fine.
Mitsi is fine! She had an underbody wash! I had a wash too as it was Hornby weather.
We just had hail and it turned to snow and it is back to raindrop size hail. Fortunately the land is a slightly higher tempreture at the moment, so.. Ooh. Sunshine!

Yes. I took this not long after I bought it. We were off exploring country lanes in Carmarthenshire, South Wales.



It is a lightweight car with a low revving 1500cc Mercades diesel engine. It goes well. Ideal for our country lanes.

nice the closest thing one can get to it here is a Mirage. the mirage makes do with a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine.

I just drove my Corolla to Connecticut and back, all the way from South Carolina. It ran quite well and got about 35-38 miles to the gallon. Nice to have a car that doesn't require worrying about or fussing over--it just runs!

My brothers has a 3 cylinder petrol engine and has the smaller engine. I think it is either a 1000cc or a 1100cc.
