Wow, I'm learning alot about my self reading this stuff. I really like to pace while talking to myself, but as my appartment isn't big enough for that I haven't done it lately. I tend to pop my knuckles allot, recently I've been grabing an inch of fat/muscle on my left peck and I'll hang on to that until I realize that I'm doing it. I grind my teeth, I do the whole leg vibrate thing, on ocasion I'll rock, but not too often, I whistle, sing, hum, etc., I have this thing I like to do with my teeth, where I tap my finger nail on them or chomp my jaws down to make a clacking noise and I'm able to change the note and make a tune out of it. One that I like to do when I'm around friends is to breath in while constricting my throat, it makes a high pitch sound kind of like what I imagine a pterodactyl sounded like. My friends think I'm weird, but I enjoy watching their reactions.

When I read this my jaw dropped. I did in deed do this as a kid. I never even realized it was anything more than being a weird kid. It's bizare that such a specific stim would be done by two totaly different kids that never met. for some reason I liked the feeling of my nose hitting the pillow, where it kind of gets smooshed and the cartilage inside gives a little bit.

BOH that makes 3 of us

my most common "stimming" is tapping and drumming on desks until people force me to be silent, in which i resort to rocking, cracking bones/knuckles, or bobbing my head. ironically most of my recent music is inspired by the tapping i unconsciously do on desks.

I have a hop skip jump dance, hand flapping, grunting, hand rubbing and head rubbing.

I play air drums by tapping my fingers on a table, "pet" my hair (my dad also does this), pace, and toss balls around.

At home, it's usually rocking back & forth.

At school, it's waving my writing utensil about until someone asks me.

I tend to twirl my hair. It gets on my husband's nerves! LOL! Or I rock back and forth a lot. Or I play with the rings on my fingers.

Slight rocking.
Listening to music or sounds I like over and over.
I play with my hair.
I fidget when I'm sitting in class or tap my foot on the ground.
When I'm at school in my thrid floor class, I press my head to the desk where the table top connects with the metal leg and listen to the music coming up through the floor from the music department below.
I stare out the window at clouds or when I'm in a moving car.
I put my face in my cat's fur ^^U They smell so nice and they're so soft.

I used to rock alot when I was young, usually with my hands behind me supporing my weight and rock. It was really soothing and nice but my parents hated it.

Now I tend to 'spin', I'll stand on the spot in the middle of my room and go round and round on the spot, I can do this for hours on end. When I'm stressed it's a great way to unwind. Unfortunately I tend to do this at the expense of everything else as I can tilt my head and get giddy, which is sort of drug-like.

I've done it on the rare ocasions I stay with people, though it tends to be when I'm in my room away from them - it's not something I'd want other people to see.

My twin brother does the same too, he does the spinning and rocking.
