Apparently it was quite a party in there at that time so the point is largely moot

actus reus and mens rea argument anyhow

Carbon fiber and epoxy, vacuum bag or pressure mold, then the burnout oven. What is left is bound Carbon, with amazing properties. My work has been in helmets.

I am also working on a personal transportation design.

Zukenkerl Your age is showing. The problem with computers, they neither learn nor forget.

The Government and most others have the low bidder problem. They want the big shiny box, and cheap, not the, configured for best use, they do not like to pay for thought and skill.

Without giving anyone ideas, today the April First worm activates and calls home. It is easy to transmit, and infects lots of systems. It can be planted from a 286 on dialup, and later send copies to all traffic and infects the entire network. It can lay dormant for years, and get forwarded, then one day it is an eye everywhere. Along the way it picks up passwords, personal and system.

No matter how protected, if the bug is inside, it can call out, then the system is open.

Microsoft has put a $250,000 bounty on the April First worm developer.

You know you have it if you cannot reach microsoft.com, for the patch, or any antivirus software site.

The answer is download it to an uninfected site, and e mail it to your system, then install.

This one does things, it steals personal information, it is just as easy to plant one that is only there to reach, contact it, you are inside.

The main thing that can be watched is network traffic, our Embassy in London uses the British network, but all data is encripted. so is the bug, which picks up the encription, so it can now all be read. It is a code key bug.

The IDIOT problem in computers is called a Masters in Computer Science, it gets worse with a Government job. They learned enough to graduate with a low C, in courses that are by nature, ten years behind the field. What is not in the book, what is intuitive, they never get.

Their main problem is in getting a new system, they transfer all the old data to it, and bugs.

There are some Legacy Hacks that have been around since the 70s, that still work.

I have often commited computer Felonies, only I was doing it on behalf of the owner who could not get in their own system.

It is said we lock doors to keep honest people out. The rest we charge with breaking and entering.

And to be quite honest with ourselves, it won't be, they'll put him away for the longest time possible. Amercian paranoia will see to that quite well.

Actually, I hadn't even heard of the guy until this thread. He isn't exactly making our news in massive doses. Meaning, I don't think we're particularly worried about him, as a nation, in any real sense. He isn't inciting much paranoia; I think your fear on that is missplaced. Just because our legal system is adversarially based and likes to talk in scare tactics does not mean those results are bound to happen.

Unfortunately the results are more often than not solely decided, if indirectly, on what's best for Wackenhut's coffers

Microsoft.com The Conficker Worm, on the opening page.

One thing it does is turns off automatic updates, a very good article on it, and what patch you need has to do with what system you are running.

What people don't seem to understand annymore is that 70% of the purpose is to dissuade OTHERS! The other 30% is to PUNISH! Rehabilitation doesn't work in any other way, and is not TRULY the goal.

They might want an ET Bible because it might be based on string theories and dimensions we are unaware of. It could, for the first time, explain God. This Bible might indeed be the antithesis of miraculous biblical yearning but at the same time, it could demystify theories that confound us, explain the supernatural. ETs might have figured out M twenty five thousand earth years ago! No wonder McKinnon was so determined to hack in the Defense Department System! He was probably hoping to unravel the divine mystery! I want to unravel it too, but not by hacking into the Pentagon.

70 years will not put a dent in the damages. He will be sentenced to typing the entire contents in triplicate, then keypunching that into a new system. He will also have to pay for the new system.

He is like a guy who says, all I did was light a cigarette in a no smoking zone, and claim to not be responsable for the billion dollar refinery fire.

On the other side, things are labeled Top Secret, and you can't get rid of them because no one is allowed to look at them.

Under the Freedom of information act a whole copy of everything had to be printed out, then everything except A, An, the, was blacked out by hand with markers, before the information could be released to the public. That doubled the size of storage, and took some 50,000 years of classified work by people with Top Secret clearance.

In the electronic format, a backup copy is kept in a safe place, but if it is needed because a star went supernova, all computer systems will be fried. So now we need a backup hardware system, and people who are willing to live miles underground.

Systems are designed by the best in the industry, and run by Specialist E-3 Jones, and Molly from Marketing. It is part of the last mile problem, or 1.6 Kilometer in Europe, also known as POTS, Plain Old Telephone Service, or in more depth, The Twisted Pair, because of what E-3 Jones and Molly were doing in the router room, where she likes to feel the clicks and vibrations and hot spots on the bare skin of her back. Since nerds do not get that kind of action, no one ever thought of a water proof system.

The Benchly Park Gang of cyber terrorists will be hunted down.

We dissuade terrorists by shooting them.

I notice that all of your financial center runs on some old American software.

inventor i really am enjoying your posts in this topic dude. government within a government is well quite facinating :cyclops:

so what if any alien involvement in our government is there? and an alien base on the far side of the moon makes perfect sence because nobody can see there, also why would humanity be led astray like this by our own humankind. i think people would like to know the truth. i think its because everyone would panic

It would be cool if McKinnon did find something and was able to make a copy of it. Like, designs for space craft and secret formulas and equations.
On second thought, any ETs are probably way too sophisticated to let anyone find anything out. If they can make it here, they are, most likely, very adaptable.
Maybe they use antimatter explosions to fuel their space crafts.

You puzzle me. I'm not going to debate any of this with you because I believe at least some of what you're saying is fiction, I'm just not sure what. And you do sound like you know what you're talking about. And this is the internet and arguing on the internet is...y'know.

If there was real, genuine alien contact with people on our planet, I think it would be a hard secret to keep. I also don't think it gives the human mind enough credit to say our incredible advances in technology are due to ET assistance.

From the 15,000 year old cave paintings in Tasilli, from the oldest of Sumner, Egypt, through European art, with some bad spin by the church, we have a constant record of flying objects, and contact stories.

Ishtar who came to earth in an egg, and taught us to breed animals, not just kill them. Now Easter with a chocolate egg laying rabbit.

There is a Sumarian story of a teacher who came on land in the day, and spent their nights in the sea, they taught. They got killed.

Long before we even had hot air baloons, there are stories of flying cities.

We were not very good students, for we have a lot of history, and only since the Industrial Revolution, 150 years, has progress been a constant. Most of it was us, but Tesla was Before the Wright Brothers.

A mear 40 years later fighter jets in Germany, and the bomb. Since then electronics and control systems, I think we did most of it, but some of it is just because we saw things we could not do.

The Foo fighters of WWII, discribe a flying disk, very fast, that could climb at speed that measured from the background by good pilots, were thousands of miles an hour.

White Sands testing ground was a UFO hotspot during the tests, and Roswell is near.

There was no secret German plane, for it could have shot down ours with ease, German pilots also reported them. Roswell, two years after the war was not enough time for a secret American program, that fifty years later is still a secret.

The curve of knowledge is now up. The doubling time of human knowledge is short, and in many fields.

So there is evidence we were observed, taught, to little effect, but when bomb time hits, it may be a marker for a technological leap. We do know enough to build a huge ship in orbit, powering it would be a problem, not much chance of going to another star with our knowledge, but someday.

We rate as a potential future danger.

We have our good points and potential, but we also turn insane killer ape, and WWII killed 50,000,000 people. It was about something, I forget what. Oh yea, the superior political and economic system, all of which have failed.

We are a product of our perceptions, and some bad math. It seems a long way to the stars, but that can change with a single idea. It might be days, we still have those bombs, and would most likely bring some, just in case.

The term, "Is a danger to themselves and others." Seems universal, and fits us. We were playing with the exotics, Atomics, now we are learning to have fun with Silica, chips and fiber optics, and Carbon fiber is more useful than C02. Much better than CO.

Most of our recent past was smoke stacks, rivers running black, some catching fire, Lead in gas, and the cleanup was recent, 1972 on.

Genetics shows what is called a mutation from 38,000 years ago, or outside DNA, strangely it dates the Human Explosion of technology, and is considered a potential cause of Autism. From old Sumnarian, later plagerised, "The sons of god looked upon the daughters of man, and found that they were fair."

This does not support Monotheism.

The gods from the machine is an old idea.

That the Great Mothers bore children fathered by the gods is an older story.

After millions of years of sticks, rocks, fire, and hardly any change, a sudden rise of technology and understanding. The birth of art, complex language, herds and crops rather than the hunt, and in only 38,000 years, us. Our time takes up only the last 1/100 of human time.

So it all points to, we are family. All records since show we have been watched.

I do see recent turning points that have turned us from blasting the planet to glowing rubble, cleaning up our litter, and working with the basic building blocks, rock, charcoal, fire.

We have only recently reached a level where we could be taught, and dangers that we should be taught.

Humans that were isolated, Australia, Borneo, were just like we were 40,000 years ago, a hundred years ago. We took a different path. Development is not normal human behavior. Their last 1/100 of time was the same as all before.

We still have lots to learn.

Today is WORLD AUTISM DAY

Something greater than ourselves we can all participate in. Making a difference:

I've been devoting a lot of my time to thinking about this, especially since reading some of this thread. ETs wouldn't want to visit us. I'm running the risk of sounding like a cliche straight out of Star Trek with this revelation, but, here I go, anyway. ETs would avoid the human species at all costs. Any ET with half a brain would realize the serious risk to themselves they would encounter if attempting to contact human beings. As a species, they come off as greedy, self absorbed, corrupt, and worst of all, incredibly destructive and violent.

Realizing this sad truth, I have also considered something else in it's wake. It doesn't have to be this way unless we choose it and if we choose it we run the risk of destroying ourselves.

One of my happiest moments happened the night before last. I awoke and couldn't get back to sleep so I turned on the television.
Coverage of the G20 summit was on one of the news channel so I tuned in to hear what Obama had to say, since he was speaking.
I saw him talking to a crowd from behind a podium while alongside Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

I want you guys to see this, it's very important and vital to the well being of us all:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/fina ... enals.html

We all have a responsibility in seeing that the human race is rid of the threat of nuclear war.

This is the stuff that really matters. We can all be a part of this. Accomplish this and we can make ourselves attractive to ETs who might want to help us advance in the future.

We can all participate! It doesn't require social skills yet we can still contribute to the advancement of mankind. We can each do our part by contacting our representitives, our politicians, our governments and demanding that the US, Russia, and everyone else commit themselves to reducing their nuclear weapons stock.
Make them follow thru on their promise and feel great about being a part of the human species!
