Is the party over?

No. We are just getting started. Welcome!

I read something about a new site. What site is that?

Changes yet to come, still in development. It will take some time, days are early still. We may have a new forum platform soon, and new features, such as live text chat. Intent is for the new site to be more like a reddit platform than the current format, basically, while running this platform for some time along side it.

Just a quick question, Jeff. When this happens, will there be a different domain address for this old platform? Will this board stay up for a while? I'd likely get used to something new but I wonder how many folks are so used to this format and perhaps would like to stay with this for a while anyway.

Thank you in advance.

TC

So, instead of Wrong Planet, we'll have Wrong Plannit?

I like the way this site is now. If it'll be similar to reddit then that means it'll be messy and confusing. I left reddit for that reason. I like forums because they're so neat and it's harder to miss a post in your thread.

I know not everyone can read everything, but I keep stating that this in theory would move to classic.wrongolanet.net and I detailed a lot of the ideas in this thread.

The idea is we will have various modifications to our setup that make the flow more forum like. This platform will run in tandem for a good while.

Please remember any old codgers here, like myself.

I started programming ~1970, moved to computer-related bureaucracy ~2000, retired in 2011. In other words, I am outdated and now-inexperienced. I will only be interested in E-A-S-Y transitions.

Great care and consideration is going in to how to achieve this comfortably and in a way everyone can get comfortable with is what I can say for sure. We can't make everyone fully happy in the end, but we are trying hard for a vibe that is familiar enough and avoids many of the toxic elements of reddit being a popularity contest overall, so it will be a platform that is reddit-like, but the presentation of that platform and how it flows and works will be modified to be more what this community likely would desire.

I hope there will be "Simple, Detailed Reddit Instructions" for the clueless old folk, like me.

(Perhaps it would help put things in perspective if I noted that I've never had a Facebook account.)

I'm a millennial but have a hard time understanding technical things and internet details beyond the basics. It's why I like this site - simple and old school.
