I was quite a class clown in HS. I didn't get into that much trouble-- I would get little talks, that sort of thing. I never pushed it too much. However, while kids laughed it did not help me socially. I think it made me feel more comfortable though.

To those who don't think this is typical AS-- ever heard of the "active but odd" thing? I don't know though it might be more PDD than AS. But then I wish they'd get rid of all those little differentiations.

The main form of punishment was detention, and I guarantee that I hold, by a long shot, the all-time record for the number of detentions in the history of the school (and most of my teachers were especially indulgent to me).

Oh yeah, in my HS, detention consisted of sitting within a small room in a walled cubicle where you couldn't talk, and just had to "study" (which could be reading)... it was a glorious reward.

The Bozo clown topic

This backfired on me, but it got some sort of attention I seemed to crave at the ti,es. I would never repeat the behaviour as it was really idiotic and not part of my personality.

I was a class clown pretty much all the way the end of school. Since I was often also a teacher's pet and I was a very good student, it was tolerated.

I was one of the class clowns in the 5th grade but I had stiff competition. It could be my perception of things but it did help boost my popularity. The key is knowing where to STOP and that’s one of the pitfalls of Asperger’s, or so I’ve observed.
In the 6th grade I had no interest in being the class clown and wasn’t even on the map until late in the school year.
The 5th grade was my only year of consistent class clownery.

Read my username.

I do it for my own entertainment. I don't care if other people are entertained by it or not. If they are, great! If they still avoid socializing with me... heck, that actually might be a bonus.

I guess Ellen DeGeneres should be my hero or something.
